RE: Bowling Green, KY to Indy

I65 south of Louisville a real pothole, but what can you do? We came up I-65 from Montgomery, AL to Indy about 2 weeks ago and didn't find that the area south of Louisville was that bad. I-65 south of Birmingham, AL holds the title as "pothole".

RE: Kentucky Horse Park CG

I made a reservation at the Horse Park campground about 2 weeks ago for a long weekend in mid-April. April is also one of the two months that they race at Keeneland. The other is October. I had no problem selecting a site. I've camped there during other times when racing is taking place at Keeneland. Racing at Keeneland isn't as big a problem for making a reservation at the campground as compared to large horse events at the Kentucky Horse Park itself. In the back of the campground is a gate that goes directly into the horse park and horse owners often use the campground when participating at the horse park. Check the horse park's listing of events when planning to camp at the campground.

RE: Central Florida Coastal RV Park Recommendations

I'll second Rock Crusher in Crystal River. It's a bit inland so the noseeums aren't a big problem closer to the water. They don't question the length of your stay. There are several folks currently in the park that don't plan to return for various reasons. You might check now because it's only going to get more crowded by waiting.

RE: What happened to this forum?

Fewer people RVing in the winter. That couldn't be farther from the truth. There are a lot of folks out and about with their RVs, especially in Florida this winter. When we first started snowbirding in 2013 we never had to make reservations and that first year we didn't leave Michigan until February 1st. The park we stay for 4-5 months in Crystal River has been about 80-90% full for the past two months. February and March are usually the busiest with no vacancy posted on occasion. With all the parks down here and the numbers of snowbirds I don't see fewer people RVing at this point.

RE: Headed south for just two weeks

Nearly all state parks along the Atlantic & Gulf coasts will be booked eleven months in advance. There could be cancelations, but don't count on it. I would suggest that you look further inland if you want to keep the costs down. Arcadia, FL has several parks that are nice. Check out the Sebring area too. Follow U.S.27 up through the middle of the state. To help you search Florida campgrounds you might want to use Click on the state you want and then click on the various cities that you will see along the left side.
