No Restrictions Florida Keys

If you had 2 weeks to spend in the Florida Keys, in a 43’ DP and you could stay anywhere, where would you stay, and what time of year? Considerations... Have kayaks, and hubby is a bug magnet. Don’t need or want a pool, nor activities, and prefer minimal, if no children around. Just want spectacular ocean views, peace and quiet, cocktail in hand, and toes in the sand. Thanks!

RE: Traveling in Oregon

Just saw this notice at a 55 plus park. 3rd one we’ve seen this Summer Seems to be a common theme in Senior Communities https://i.imgur.com/4RpS6evl.jpg

RE: Traveling in Oregon

it is against the law to consume in public in both Oregon, and Washington. I think your biggest worry would be someone asking you for some of your Doritos. What is it you are concerned about? Most people that indulge in these States are over 65. Surprise! It’s not like it’s Woodstock and everyone is standing around smoking pot singing kubaya and chanting If you want to worry about something, worry about impact wrenches, pooping, barking dogs, screaming kids, and not being able to find a place to park. As I indicated in my post, a co-worker was in CO and in a downtown area, the second hand smoke was heavy. That's what I want to avoid. The majority of responses here confirmed that we don't have to worry. I’m pretty sure your co- worker was exaggerating. It is illegal to consume in public in any State where it is legal, so think that was a made up story. Campfires create 50x the stink and smoke

RE: Dometic - Up or Down

My experience is Dometic fridges do better at 7-8, instead of max. Try going down a bump with the outside setting, wait 24 hours, then readjust as needed with the thermostat inside Yes, it should maintain temp on electric.

RE: Dometic - Up or Down

Up is colder, down warmer Get a snip the tip, and then you don’t have to worry about moving it

RE: Sticker Shock for general service

You need to look up service and maintenance schedules for your engine/ tranny/ generator. Being a newer rig, there are usually adjustments, tweaks, etc at certain mileages/ hours. There could be quite a few things that need to, or should have been done already

RE: Sticker Shock for general service

To answer your question, yes, it’s couple years past time for servicing. Since you have missed a couple services, contact a reputable center, tell them you’ve never had service done since new, if Im reading your post correctly, and they will give you an amount. Our P1 service every year is around $500 from a great service center in Phoenix Generator,if you’re handy, can be done yourself to save the $300-$350 For future, do your coach a favor and have it serviced regularly. Maintenance is key to these coaches. Waiting 3 years is doing nothing but asking for problems. I’m sure you knew going in, these rigs are not inexpensive to own, so,it shouldn’t be sticker shock. Service, inspections, and maintenance are the most important things when you own one.

RE: Utah National Parks: November? or April?

November. When we were working stiffs, our vacation every year to Utah was end of October into November Perfect time in Utah. Leaves are changing, smaller crowds, rv spots open in most of the smaller cities. Bryce canyon with snow is magnificent. Chilly at night, warm usually during the day. Just be prepared for drastic weather changes and you will be good. Better chance of snow at lower elevations in Spring than Fall in those areas

RE: The best mid-size truck for 2019? Honda!

Yeah, no. Thanks. We’ll keep our Ford Ranger. It has been averaging over 24mpg, and have experienced none of what the author of that article talks about with problems. Plus, it’s a real truck, and is the most comfortable vehicle we have ever owned, including a 911 turbo Porsche, and a 500 series Mercedes convertible Just wondering what the yellow sticker payload on your Ranger is? Just the truck... for occupants and cargo is 1496. At the scale, fully loaded, she is 4800, so 700lbs less than our 2008 Colorado Says she can tow 7500, but, if we ever get our lot, and a little trailer, max we’re planning is 4500 fully loaded on the trailer Easiest vehicle we have ever towed. She actually has a neutral 4 down tow setting on the computer, and she tows like a dream. Really hate to say it, but this is the very first Ford either of us have ever owned. We have been die hard Chevy fans our entire lives, so it’s a change, but a great one. Super fun to drive, zippy, handles awesome, and looks great. We love our baby Raptor!

RE: Newmar Sold

What a sad day. Guess we will never own a post 19 Newmar. Talk about a horrible thing for the industry. Hopefully their parts and support won’t change, but doubtful

RE: extended warranty

We’ve had the opposite. Have had to spend hundreds out of pocket for things they wouldn’t cover. Little things like, oh, labor We spent $1000 plus extra for the “ super duper all inclusive” coverage, and have had nothing but headaches. Pm me if you want

RE: Best route to I15 traveling north from Kanab

Wouldn’t take 14 in the motorhome. Way too much fuel use, hilly and narrow, and little room for error, plus slowing down traffic since there’s not a lot of places to pull of. Motorcycle or car, yes. If you’re headed north, why not just take 89 north to 70, and across, or 89, 70, 50, to 15?

RE: Overnite stop on the 101 olympic peninsula

When you say no rest areas, does that mean you don’t want to stay at a rest area? There is one that allows you to stay for 12 hours just north of Sequim. There is also a Home Depot, and a casino that allow overnight parking. Freecampsites.net

RE: Help finding nightly parking for our caravan

Cabela’s is a great stop. They offer covered dog pens, fresh water, security, and some have a dump station. Always check with security, and they will let you know where in the lot to park

RE: If you had a month...?

Gorgeous time to head over to Michigan. Start on the SE side of Lake Michigan and head North. There are some great museums in the UP. Travel up and over, along the lake, then into Wisconsin, and down to Door County. Hit the Dells, then to S Dakota for all the National Parks, Spearfish Canyon, etc. Fall colors abound, great food, gorgeous scenery, and hopefully, not too busy. Have a fun, safe trip wherever you decide to go

RE: Motorcycle carrier for a diesel pusher

We have an Overbilt lift, and love it. It’s half the weight of a Hydralift, and is the only carrier that the towbar doesn’t have to be removed in order to take the motorcycle down. They have many different configurations, depending on what you want to carry... Motorcycle, ATV, golf cart, etc. The customer service is pretty darn good too.

RE: Buying out of state

Considering this a dealer transaction, and not private party.... If you take delivery in California, you will have to pay their sales tax. When you register it in Florida, you won’t have to pay again, but you also will not get any refund if FL is less than Ca. In order to not pay tax in California, you will have to take delivery out of State, but they will charge you a delivery fee... Anywhere from $450 and up, depending where you take possession. Can’t help you on the smog, and also not sure you would have to do anything but get a trip permit if it’s a private party purchase.

RE: Hwy 95 from Winnemucca to Boise, Id. and RV sites in Idaho

Highly recommend Ambassador RV Resort. It’s in Caldwell, about 30 miles from Boise. Not sure if that’s too far, but it’s a beautiful resort. Safe travels
