RE: Ideal V8 rpms when towing?

It's RPM (Revolutions per minute)as in the number of turns in one minute. Not RPMS (Revolutions per minutes), we have no idea how many minutes you are talking about. Lower RPM does not always give the best gas/fuel mileage, you can lug an engine down too low and hurt your mileage. Depending on your load, the sweet spot can change for the best mileage.

RE: ERROR MESSAGE

This thread still shows the error message with both Good Sam and RV.Net portals. Oops something is wrong

RE: Thanks for fixing the forum problems.

I still get the message when opening some threads while using the Good Sam portal. Same thing on the RV.Net portal, must be something with the thread.

RE: Error Messages

Not ignoring I am just unable to duplicate the error message hence I don't have an example for them to troubleshoot. Most are just hitting the F5 key when they see it. I use RV.net and Firefox. It's kinda like going into a auto mechanics shop Mechanic says "What's wrong with it?" Driver says "People say it makes a funny sound" Mechanic says "Where is it coming from?" Driver says "I don't know" Mechanic says "What does it sound like?" Driver says "I can't hear it" Not good but that's what I'm stuck with. Some people run into the Captca whereas I don't see it. I got nothing to send to IT. I'm stuck and no way out at this time. Admin RV.net I cannot access most of the forum without see the error message whether using Internet Explorer or Edge, and also trying the RV.Net or Good Sam portals. It's definitely something in the servers, as this is the only forum doing this. https://i.imgur.com/F44VDOYl.jpg

RE: Error Messages

So now I can't access the truck camper forum or even the original thread in here on this "we're sorry" issue. Honestly is anyone looking into this????

RE: We're sorry. An error has occurred.

Two days in a row for me that I can't see the Truck Camper section of the forum no matter if I use Good Sam or RV.Net portals. Is anyone addressing the issue, I don't see any forum admin response in this thread.

RE: Fuel mileage 2017 gas trucks

I'm kinda weird, but I have every gas receipt for all of my vehicles and calculate the mileage and expense's on an annual basis. For my 2012 GMC 2500 6.0 it's every April. I purchased my camper in Aug of 2013, so the first year and 4 months it was truck and 16' trailer with ATV's, after that it's my Wolf Creek 850 and the same trailer with ATV/UTV. My truck is not a daily driver, it's my dedicated weekender camping rig. 2018-2019 4,666 Miles Driven 457.60 Gallons of gas 10.19 MPG $1,443.73 Total gas expense $3.15 Avg per gallon 2017-2018 4,332 Miles Driven 424.87 Gallons of gas 10.19 MPG $1,219.25 Total gas expense $2.86 Avg per gallon 2016-2017 3,786 Miles Driven 378.81 Gallons of gas 9.99 MPG $1,961.45 Total gas expense $2.53 Avg per gallon 2015-2016 4,572 Miles Driven 432.11 Gallons of gas 10.58 MPG $1,133.19 Total gas expense $2.62 Avg per gallon 2014-2015 4,500 Miles Driven 421.42 Gallons of gas 10.67 MPG $1,515.11 Total gas expense $3.59 Avg per gallon 2013-2014 (camper July 2013) 6,557 Miles Driven 581.33 Gallons of gas 11.28 MPG $2,222.86 Total gas expense $3.82 Avg per gallon 2012-2013 7,058 Miles Driven 537.22 Gallons of gas 13.13 MPG $2,133.05 Total gas expense $3.97 Avg per gallon

RE: Question about tire pressure

You need to air them up to 80 PSI, your camper is heavier than you are giving it credit for. Underinflated tires overheat and eventually you'll have a blowout.

RE: Just back from two weeks in AK

Safety glasses? It's that bad? Oh my. :E I'll have to check it out next time in the neighborhood. I'll bring some glasses. :C They are for flying hooks and lures when someone looses a fish. They fly hard and 100's get hooks in the face/head. The ER in Soldotna has a doll with all of the hooks removed each summer in the place it was removed from. https://i.imgur.com/fOIYbGpl.jpg

RE: Roll Call Alaska 2019

I live about 15 miles outside of Anchorage, last week our mornings were 56-58 degrees, today 36 degrees, it's changing quickly. As for the fires, Southcentral AK is buried in smoke today due to strong winds over the weekend that spread two massive fires. On the Sterling Highway the north winds blew the fire across the highway towards Skilak Loop Road and closed a 20 mile section. A pilot car will lead cars through as the situation allows. Cooper Landing is prepared to evacuate. On the Parks Highway the wind blew a tree onto the power lines by the highway and lit the forest. Many houses and some businesses are destroyed. A 30 mile stretch between Trapper Creek and Willow was closed and reopens with a pilot car (50 cars with a 1 hour trip each way) as the fire/smoke allows safe passage. Extremely Smoky down here!

RE: New Moderator

Congratulations Bedlam, I'm sure you'll do the forum good. I'm a lead moderator on a ATV forum and know the ups and downs of moderating, there is a whole lot more to it than many realize. I wish you all the best!!!

RE: Timbren vs. Sumo Springs

I added the heavy duty Timbrens after the first year with my camper to help when pulling my trailer. No weird proposing, sway, or maintenance with them like some have with air bags.

RE: GM pickup tailgate opening too narrow

It was in 2008 that the tailgates narrowed on GM trucks, I couldn't fit a Northern Lite that was on a 2001 Chev without raising it almost 4". No problem with a traditional camper shape or extra width above the wheel wells like an Arctic Fox.

RE: Roll Call Alaska 2019

1/2 of day from Anchorage, but settle on forest campground. Any recommendation for campground in Anchorage? Google is not showing much of good choices. How can you stay away from Tok? That is the only route you can drive and actually roads in the area are way better, than those closer to the border. Kayteg, just before Anchorage is the Eagle River campground, take the Eagle River Loop/Hiland Road exit (3rd Eagle River exit after you cross the river and climb back uphill), cross back over the highway and take an immediate left on VFW Road, the campground access road will be on your right. Its a Chugach National Forrest campground without hookups but right on the river, beautiful. Eagle River is about 10 miles from downtown Anchorage and has a Safeway grocery There are 3 dump stations in Eagle River too (Chevron, Tesoro, & Fred Meyer gas stations). The three "camp grounds" in Anchorage are all kind of sketchy. South of Anchorage about 15 Miles is Bird Creek campground, also no hookups but located on the Turnagain Arm of the Cook Inlet. One gas station right across the highway.

RE: Roll Call Alaska 2019

Slowly rolling that way, will need to spend an extra day in Calgary as the fridge stopped working, and send to bed unrelated to the right side electric not working. How's the heat? Heard it's nicer here for a change. The heat is finally gone as of today in southcentral AK, 20 degree drop from two days ago. 62 degrees right now in Eagle River (5:30pm) with 5 more hours of daylight left today.
