RE: Are these stickers needed??

The Secret of the Seal Revealed! Manufacturers self certify their product. Well, that explains a lot, though I saw no reference to quality of what they build. That certainly does explain a lot. It also tells me that those RVIA stickers are only for show and they don't mean squat.

RE: 30 amp plug question

After looking at the pictures I would buy a new 30 amp cord and wire it into the junction box. Someone mentioned earlier about buying an RV extension cord and cuting off the female end and using that. That's a good idea if you can't find a ready made cord and plug.

RE: Are these stickers needed??

Is there an easy way of getting rid of the "ghosting" after removing decals? I removed the name of our dealer they stuck on our TT. 4+ years later I can still see the outline of the letters. Only reason to leave them on would be if you ever wanted to sell it into Canada which I would guess unlikely... Are you thinking of removing the graphics too? Ours are starting to deteriorate slightly in a few spots at the edges due to shrinkage of the vinyl. I've seen a few RVs with graphics removed but it doesn't seem to look right without them. I wish I could remove ours because I know they're just going to get worse over time. We could have ordered painted on graphics when we ordered our TT at the dealer but we didn't want to spend the $$ at the time. Kinda wish we did now. When I debadged my old truck I used some mild auto compound to get rid of the ghosting. Maybe try a good cleaner wax first. Might be a bit less aggressive than the compound.

RE: Fridge help

This might seem like a dumb question but did you purge the air out of the lines before you tried to start it?

This should do it.

RE: My set up and TT length

This is my second 33' trailer. Both trailers I towed with a 1500 Ram. I use an Equalizer 4pt sway control and weight distribution hitch and never had any sway issues.

RE: Dogs that dont bark at people

Here's our camping buddy at home. She doesn't bark now that we've trained her - but at only around 8 lbs. we have to be real watchful when camping that a bird of prey doesn't come down and swoop her up: Is she a Havanese? Yes she is. She's about 2 1/2 years old, she loves to camp, and she is no foo foo dog. She loves the outdoors and can spend a long time (if we let her) looking and sniffing around ... but always on a leash. If we let her off the leash, she'd chase a deer into the next county and the whole outdoors would wind up stuck in her double coat!! We have a Havanese too. And ours would do the same to a dear, a chipmunk, a rabbit, a squirrel, a groundhog, or anything that runs. Ours is 9 and is still full of energy. They really are great dogs. Very smart to. Almost to smart for their own good. Pics are in this thread

I'll bring this back to life with a pick of our Havanese, Ruffles. No I didn't pick the name, she came with that name from the rescue where we got her. Here she is chilling in our trailer.

RE: Suggest a sewer hose kit.

Be careful with Rhino. They changed their design in the past couple of years and they've been having issues. Mainly the ends coming apart. Read the reviews on Amazon carefully and you'll see what I mean. They used to be great but I'm not sure about now. Nothing against Rhino but this is what I found in my hunt for new hoses this year. I bought the Revolution hoses. They seem pretty good and cheap at Walmart.

RE: Maximum length for 1500

As for length my trailer is 33' and I tow it with a Ram 1500 and it tows fine. I use an Equalizer hitch. It's 6600 dry and 7200 loaded. My last trailer was 33' long to and I towed that with an older Ram 1500. Again no problems with the length. As far as weight goes I can't comment on that. I don't know Chevy's that well.

RE: Lost keys

Dealers have universal keys but they only open the door latch not the dead bolt. They may open it for you if you tow it to them. Then just replace the lock with whatever type you want. A locksmith may be able to get it open for you to. Also the storage compartment keys are universal unless you have a newer slam latch. RV dealers sell those keys. They are CH751 keys. Can you crawl through there to get inside?

RE: Starcraft Star Stream 2007 Leaking Skylight

I agree, hard pass on this trailer. Ken is right, the damage you see may only be the start of it. This is one can of worms best left for someone else to open.

RE: Narrowed it down to 2

Honestly you'll find problems and praises with both trailers. It's the same with any trailer. I'm not biggest fan of FR trailers but I don't hate them either. However I never owned a Surveyor. I had a Salem and the fit and finish left a lot to be desired. Other than that it was a solid trailer. It's a cr*p shoot. Azdel construction is a plus, at least I think it is. If they are at the same dealer you only have to decide between trailers. If they are at different dealerships then consider the dealerships to. Chances are you'll have to deal with them at least once in the first year. I had to with both our last two trailers. Both were new and they were both bought from the same dealership. That wasn't planned it just worked out that way. They did good both times.

RE: I hate dinettes

How about the best of both worlds. Today we picked up two chairs from a local thrift store and I pulled one of the benches out. The wood color just about matches the chair rail perfectly and the chair back pattern matches the Sandalwood design. We contacted Aspen Trail to see if we could buy some material to recover the chairs to match perfectly. If not we'll just use some brown vinyl that matches the rest of the furniture. The chair covers are black vinyl now. My wife wanted chairs because the bench was not good for her back but I wanted the extra storage. So we both got what we wanted.

RE: Picking up new camper

thanks everyone. Now soon my next purchase may be a different tow vehicle. I have the Ram 1500 with a 3.6L v6 and it's rated to tow 7340lbs as it has the 3.55 rear end. but in the 1.5 hour ride home I'm not sure if i'll be happy with it. Takes a lot of revving. It got up to speed ok, it could have been worse, but I had no camping gear loaded up yet. I'm wondering how they get the towing numbers, seriously. I had a 2003 f150 with a 5.4L that was rated to tow 8000 and I towed a coachmen at 6500 loaded and I could tell that it was back there with that truck. this truck will do it, but i dont think it likes to. Yep, time for a Hemi. Rated 8600lbs with 3.55 gears. Plenty of power for my TT. It's 7200lbs loaded.

RE: I hate dinettes

Everyone has different needs and travels differently. There is no 1 Answer and to say "I'm doing it right you aren't" is quite arrogant imo. The way I see it this is pretty much the bottom line. To each their own.
