RE: British Columbia, Canada

sue.t, thank you so much for the picture and the info. I enjoyed reading your description...so sorry about your Tazz. We lost our little dog Prissy in May of last year. She had been with us on every trip for 14 years..when we went to Colorado and then Wyoming last August, her little urn rode between us.

RE: British Columbia, Canada

To IslandMan: Thanks for all the good info. We love beautiful scenery and Oregon is as far northwest we have been, so it sounds like a great trip. To Gary: Yes, he watches Highway Thru Hell! He was in the trucking business until he retired, and he's driven all over the States, but never into Canada.

My husband wants to visit BC, Canada and drive the Chiquahalla highway, perhaps stay near the town of Hope. I would appreciate any information from anyone who has been to this area, and any recommendations for RV parks, highway conditions, etc. We would probably do this next summer. Thanks for any input. **I mistakenly posted my request in the RV camping and roads instead of here.

Oops....sorry...I didn't notice there was a Canada section. I don't know how to move all the posts there, but I can put my original request on there. Thanks

RE: Upper Peninsula

We have never been to Michigan, but I saw a tv show about a park...Pictured Rocks...it looks so beautiful. Please check it out.

Cookbooks for young cooks

Hope this is okay to post because it's not really about camping/RV cookbooks. We have some friends whose little girl (around 8 years old) loves to cook and has attended a "young chef" cooking class. I would like to give her a cookbook with fairly easy basic recipes. I've searched the internet and many of the children's cookbooks are either too simple or too detailed! If anyone has suggestions, I would appreciate... Thanks.

RE: Maggie Valley - Hendersonville

We have stayed at Stonebridge several times...really liked it...the sites were nice and there is a little stream in back of the park...also a big open field if you have a dog.

RE: Planning A Trip

If you should be in the area of St Augustine, I can recommend North Beach Campground...the beach is right across the highway...we stayed there a few years ago and really liked it. Most all the sites have privacy. And if you've never been to St Augustine, you can get tickets for a trolley that takes you all over town...it's a hop off and hop on with lots of stops. Your trip sounds wonderful!

RE: Dog won't go into RV

Thanks for the replies so quickly! The trailer has 3 steps..open. He has never used a ramp before, so I like the idea from Old-Biscuit about laying the ramp flat and having him walk on it that way. My husband has a truck and Cruiser will jump up in it just fine. I just think he is scared of this trailer and maybe not knowing what is in there. He had been picked up as a stray and so I don't know his history, but he has been "leery" of men since we got him. He will ride on the front seat with my husband in the truck, but any other time, he just shies away. I suspect he may have been mistreated in the past. Our Vet is the one who suggested the ramp...she also suggested putting his food in the trailer and see if that works.

Dog won't go into RV

I have a dog we got from the local shelter...a mixed breed. He is a good dog, but he has a stubborn streak. In the past we had a motorhome, but we sold it and now we have a travel trailer. We also have another smaller one that we adopted last year. She (Sadie) will hop right up the steps, but Cruiser refuses to go up the steps. We bought a ramp, which he also refuses to use. He will go up to the second of three steps, but no farther. If we try to pull him, he has a fit and ends up pulling out of his collar and leash. I have tried enticing him with treats, but nothing has worked. I don't know what to do. I will welcome any suggestions. Thanks

RE: Fall trip to Kentucky

We went to Land Between the Lakes in October a number of years ago and stayed at Hillman Ferry campground...it was really nice and very pretty that time of the year. There are biking trails in the area. We have not yet been to the Ark, but it is on our list to do this year!

RE: Trailer steps and Dog

Thanks for all the suggestions! I don't know Cruiser's mix...he has the head of a pittie, a long body, but very short legs (picture an oversized Corgi!) so I don't see him jumping up into the trailer without the help of steps or a ramp. The steps have that outdoor carpet on them, so he's not slipping. I like the idea of the carpet runner or a ramp...that would keep him from seeing the gap between the steps. Thanks again...

Ark Encounter

If any of you have been to the Ark Encounter in Kentucky, can you recommend an RV park nearby? Thanks, LindaAnn

Trailer steps and Dog

I haven't been on this site in a while. We had a motorhome in the past, but sold it. We recently bought a smaller travel trailer. And since we sold the motorhome, we have adopted 2 dogs from the local shelter. Sadie is a 22 pound terrier mix (white with a black circle around one eye) and Cruiser is a 50 pound mix (blonde). We lost our little dog Prissy that we used to travel with. Sadie has no problem using the steps to the trailer, but Cruiser refuses. I have tried everything...I don't know if it's because the steps are not stationary or because there are gaps between the steps. I wonder if he would use a ramp of some kind. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks, LindaAnn
