RE: Where to get three nights of peaceful RV time?

Kennedy Meadows before you get to the Sonora Pass is one of my favorite places however no fine dining anywhere close. There are several state campgrounds just before you get into the Meadows that are the most beautiful spots in the Sierras. No reservations, get there early.

RE: Help with trip planning from San Diego to San Francisco

I would go south on I5 and on the venture back north, probably 101. Hwy 1 with a big FW wouldn't be good and I definitely would avoid Big Sur. I want to make my stop overs at beach locations. There are many RV parks and campgrounds up and down the coast so I'll do so homework before I make plans. Thanks for the comments.

Help with trip planning from San Diego to San Francisco

I live in northern Ca and want to take my 5th wheel on a southern CA coastal RV trip. I'm starting from the SF bay area and I'm willing to make a long, one-day trip to San Diego, staying maybe at Campland on the Bay at San Diego for a couple of nights. I'd like to start north along the coast and maybe stay one or two nights at a couple of locations on the way back north.
Has anyone made this trip and have any recommendations on where to stop over on the way back north along the coast? I know it's crowded down there and will require reservations in advance. I'm thinking my last stop might be Pismo Beach, Avila Beach or Morro Bay. Any tips or suggestions?

RE: Raccoons - 1, Me - 1. (UPDATE!)

I live in northern CA and have had racoon and skunks invade our yard many times. I contacted a pest control company to trap and relocate these critters and was told that they legally could not release wild animals off my property and would have to euthanize them! I then called the county animal control and was told the same thing. I explained I didn't want to kill them, just get them out of my yard and was told that was the law. I couldn't go along with that so bought a trap and relocated several racoons to a creek a few miles out to town. The skunks however was a different matter. I didn't attempt to capture them and eventually they went away on their own after I blocked all the entrances to under my redwood decks and house foundation.

RE: Camping Safety

We've been doing this for a long time and I think you just have to use common sense and not expose yourself to potential dangerous situations. I do not stay at rest stops, Walmarts or places that might not be safe. I also always have the ability to protect myself if I need to.
