RE: Extended-range tank for Chevy 2500HD gas

I don't know all the specifics, but the reason for 36 gallon tank and nothing larger has to do with Vapor emissions regulations, it gets pretty expensive to get them certified.

RE: Generator dB rating

I find the dB ratings to be misleading, not useless. Some sounds within a rating can be more annoying. Then "quiet" generator is relative, A quiet Honda generator is quiet compared to an open frame construction generator. But hardly quiet.
What I speak of is that.... You can carry on a conversation around the Honda ones.Good luck doing that to a Champion.
That's funny and doubtful.
Honda 2000 - 57db
Champion 2000- 53 db
How can the Honda be quieter with a higher db rating?
Honda @ rated load is 57, 1/4 load is 53. Champion only claims 53, probably 1/4 load but don't give @ rated load db.

X2 I was having issues with windows10 and media player and started using VLC, no problems now.

RE: RAM EV

CWilson,
Thanks for the information.
Goody that you wish to pollute the planet, while the oil companies make billions of dollars while being subsidized by the government.
Pollution is going to happen whether you drive an ev or not.
But the ev will produce less pollution in a cradle to the grave scenario.
And walking or taking a horse will produce less pollution than an EV, perhaps some should lead by example.
Manufacturing a vehicle to begin with no matter what the fuel source the vehicle uses produces more pollution on the front end than any amount of savings on the back end can make up by a longshot. How much pollution do you think is produced making steel, plastic, or glass? How about copper and aluminum? Lithium batteries? Lubricants? The paper, ink, and printing process for those brochures in the rack by the door at the dealership? The salespersons cheap Dockers slacks?
X2. Common sense is a dying trait, but if you get the warm and fuzzies thinking your saving the planet, so be it.

RE: 2 outlets in GFCI path not working

open up each outlet and check all the connections visually and with a meter, you'll find the problem eventually.

RE: Seven States to Ban the Sale of Gas Powered Cars in 2035

the bottom line is the human species has been too successful.with an ever increasing population, no matter what we do, it will impact the planet. but in the big picture, it just doesn't matter, earth has been around long before humans and will be around long after we are all gone. thru all that time it has been changing. and it will continue to change.
This is probably the most concise and true statement in this whole thread. We are just a blip in time and none of us can say with any certainty what the future holds.

RE: How long should a battery last?

I have plans of getting a generator in a year or so, so it is not that I bought the wrong equipment, but that I am not yet prepared for what eventually I will be for.
You have other issues besides just getting a generator. First you need a battery bank of appropriate size for your power consumption. Next besides just buying a generator, do you have any idea of how much generator time is needed to replenish and completely charge your batteries? You are going to have to let that generator run for hours assuming you are allowed to do that where you are staying. For example in many National Parks some campgrounds do not allow generators. In others use is limited to a few hours a day corresponding to meal times. If you do stay where generator use is not restricted, you might be subject to listening to a campground full of noisy generators.
Or are you just willing to limit almost all of your camping to RV parks with hook ups?
Do you really think you bought the right equipment? Does it work for you now? Will it be what you want later on? If so, then great.
This opens up another can of worms, depending on what converter you have will play into how long you would need to run a genny.
WFCO's are pretty popular, but their performance is questionable at best.
I can say that when I changed my WFCO to a Progressive Dynamics, my genny run time was reduced to a few hours daily. YMMV

RE: How long should a battery last?

A few things:
1) where would I get the information needed to know how much the fridge would draw?
2)I have 2 other deep cell batteries that are good. Would that likely get me through a weekend with the information I have already spoke of?
3) If I boondock more often, I will be getting a generator. This is more of a one off situation.
1. Online or from refrigerator manufacturer.
2. You killed one battery in 24 hours, do you want to drain 2 batteries in 2 days?
3. If this is a one off situation and you are only looking to camp for 2 days, maybe you should just go with an ice chest.
Using a cooler makes the most sense to me.

Hi,
Almost no one boondocks with a single group 24.
Consider upgraded the capacity.
I've had great luck with reconditioned telcom jars.

RE: Seven States to Ban the Sale of Gas Powered Cars in 2035

Seven States That Are On My Do Not Visit List:
California
Maryland
Massachusetts
New Jersey
New York
Oregon
Washington
After all, I'm just helping them out. Since they don't want the type of vehicles I drive, then they shouldn't mind losing any potential tourist revenue. I just wonder if they are going to stop jets from flying into their states?
X2. If you happen to wander off course and end up in kali, be sure to hide your bag of Skittles.

RE: Propane Powered Engines Featuring a 7.3 Ford and 6.7 Cummins

Yes... But I think I would rather have this than a EV truck that maybe able to pull your camper ~100 miles at best. Plus these guys claim they're able to maintain factory power.
Dream on if you think the ----- types will let you have one of these. They are busy attacking gas stoves right now after all.

RE: Rv loan rates!

I have never financed discretionary purchases. It takes me a while to save up, but I do not have the overhead of loans slowing my saving. Paying off our home was the real factor in being able to pre save for purchases rather than financing them into the future at a higher cost.
