RE: ARE THERE ANY SNOWBIRDS ANYMORE?

Have 67 spaces in the park I am in. 39 are year-round. Rest are snowbirds. Out of 28 snowbird residents, 26 have come down. Full house.

RE: leveling blocks

When I used them under the leveling jacks, I would bring the jacks down to about 4" off ground, get out, put the blocks under each jack and then finish putting the jacks down on them. I also used the lynx blocks under a "low" side.. if doing rear, both tires one side and the front tire. I carried 12 of them.

RE: CB radios - Do you use one?

I have a hand-held CB I use for traffic reports if traffic starts backing up. Find it useful.

RE: San Antonio

I stayed at Skyline Ranch in Bandera. Nice trip into San Antonio. Sites big enough to accomodate your rig. The town of Bandera is unique.

RE: Florida - Lakeland

I was in Lakeland today, US98 north of I-4.. 5001 vehicles on the road (I was the 001.) Toll road is probably a good idea. Still going to be lots of traffic before you get to the toll road, tho.

RE: Have just lost Goof, my 13 year old Aussum Shepherd.

So sorry for your loss. I had 3 of my Cocker Spaniels cremated and they continue to travel with me.
Prayers for remission.

RE: Pahrump to Winnemucca

Road is good. Be sure to have enough gas. I stayed at New Frontier Campground when I took that route. Recommend it. Winnemaucca.

RE: Hardside TC for 3900 pound payload shortbed

I had a 2019 Palomino hardside. Nice camper, was like 2400 dry. Had it on a 2500 Dodge 5.7. Was a great combination and handled very well.

RE: Brake buddy compressor power draw

I don't know the "draw" answer, but we had to have a separate line/plug run to the battery. The 12 volt receptacle in vehicle was not enough for the BB.

RE: rv towing companies

Back in 2008, I paid $3.00 a mile to have a fifth-wheel brought to FL from GA. My best guesstimate would be 6.00 a mile now? Dealers have transporters who deliver their units to customers. I used one they suggested. Bonded and insured.

RE: brake buddy use

Our BB never drained the battery. As you are planning to start and run the engine on the car every 100 miles, I would think that will help. We did have a line run to the battery with its own 12 volt receptacle as the 12 volt plug in the car did not have enough voltage for the BB.

RE: Wolf Creek Pass in Colorado

I did Wolf Creek Pass in 2019. I saw tour buses, semi's and motorhomes on it. Follow the speed limit and you should be fine with your rig. Beautiful road.

RE: Changing oil.

I used Ford dealerships when on the road. I called Ford Customer Service and got the names of dealerships in the area who service motorhomes. Worked out well for me.

RE: air compressors

I carry a hot dog compressor from Harbor Freight, 120 volt. It has worked fine for truck and trailer tires. Around $50.

RE: Broken Macerator - Tank Full

Never heard of no valve gate. Is there a compartment right about the outlet that maybe the handle is located in? I had a Pleasure Way and yes, it was low to the ground, but I did have the handles.
If me, I would call a septic tank service and get a pump out.

RE: Auxiliary brake system

Used the Brake Buddy Classic for years. Had one rebuilt. Excellent customer service. I towed cars, not trucks. When I sold my last one, a gentleman with a 1/2 ton truck bought it.

RE: Smaller or more minimalist truck camper

I had a Palomino truck camper on a 3/4 ton long bed, Dodge Ram. I put air bags on the truck and it was the perfect set up. Drove beautifully, no sway. Went from FL to the state of WA with it. Awesome way to travel. Had all the amenities. It was about 2400 dry and within specs for the truck bed when loaded. I did not find the long bed, crew cab hard to drive. I looked at the CampLite, they can be for short beds or long beds. A little concerned about the quality, but they looked good.
