RE: 6 Volt RV batteries

Just Replaced a pair of 7 year old Duracel EGC2 with the same from Sams Club. After instant $20.00 per battery cost after taxes etc came out to $ 113.83 each In my opinion great service life at a great cost. Is the $20 per battery cost the core charge? You should get that back if you bring your old batteries back in. If you don't have old batteries to return you might be able to find a neighbor with an old battery or two in their yard that they want to get rid of. No, The $ 20.00 instant savings was a one day deal they run from time to time. the core charge is different.

RE: Minnie Winnie or Fuse/View?

Cost of Diesel per gallon plus DEF VS Regular Gas ÷ MPG difference is pretty much a wash. Most important: 1) GCWR (Gross Combination Weight Rating) Minus UVW (Unloaded Vehicle Weight) = CCC (Cargo Carrying Capacity) Does your Perspective RV have enough Capacity ? 2) Tow capacity & hitch rating. going to tow anything ? 3) floor plan 4) driving comfort (how much time behind the wheel will you spend ?) Lot choices out there and everyone of them has good and bad points. Pick the one you will be most happy with.

RE: Air Conditioner Performance

As far as testing the AC units: Measuring Intake Air Temp And output air temp (at closest air registrar if you cant measure in the main Plenum) you should see 15 - 20° differential.

RE: Sam's Duracell 6v Battery Dimensions

Duracell is a buzzword trade name. Duracell is an office with a couple dozen Herb Tarlicks running around inside. On October 24, 2014, Procter & Gamble announced it would spin off Duracell in 2015 as part of a wider restructuring scheme. On November 14, 2014, Berkshire Hathaway declared its intent to acquire Duracell in an all-stock deal, consisting of $4.7 billion worth of P&G stock then owned by Berkshire Hathaway. Warren Buffet / Berkshire has Extended the agreement for the use of the Duracell Name to East Penn for a fee ($$$$) to be used on Automotive / Marine / Golf Cart batteries. I don't recall how long that agreement is to run. I just picked up 2 EGC2 from Sams ($ 20.00 off 1 day sale) dropped the cost to $ 113.00 each after all the taxes / state fees. they replaced the 2 Duracell EGC2's that lasted 7 years plus.

RE: Ford V10 gradual reduction in fuel economy

Yes the spark plugs and coil overs were actually replaced with new. I happen to know the Ford mechanic that did the work. Boy those coil overs are expensive - about $95 each for 10 of them!!!! Did that include Labor ? I recently replaced all 10 coils & Plugs on my 2006. Genuine Motorcraft coils were $ 24.00 each. Amazon Motorcraft Coils for V10 Changing out was a PITA. I now know why Dealers charge between $ 1,000 & $ 1,200.00 to change coils & plugs.

RE: brake pads

Brake pads I replaced on my 2006 E350 were Motorcraft (From Rock Auto) Heavy Duty "Police / Emergency" versions. There was a visual difference between the OEM & the Ones I replaced with. If I need to do another replacement & can't find the same Pads, I would look at AKEBONO mfg. (They are the OEM supplier to a high number of Auto Mfgs.) Have used them on daily drivers. Raybestos Heavy Duty / police duty would be a good choice. I have slotted / cross drilled rotors & Ceramic / Carbon pads on one vehicle but would Never do this on a RV.

RE: brake pads

While you are putting brakes on I would "strongly" suggest you replace the front brake lines also. On the Ford 1999 E450 super duty you have to buy OEM only but well worth the price. A known failure for this chassis as it ages. The 'brake lines will look perfectly fine' BUT they fail on the inside. The inside collapses. Been there did that. Replaced the brakes only, on the same make and model you have and coming off an interstate ramp and the brakes went out. :E Thought for sure I was going to die. Truck stop repair knew right away it was the brake lines. Just saying since you've got it apart I would replace the brake lines also. You are referring to the "RUBBER" soft brake lines only ? the Steel metal usually have no issues unless vehicle is operated in salt conditions and rust has pitted the outside OR if the brake fluid is not flushed at proper intervals & moisture has collected & has rusted from the inside

RE: Not charging from alternator

Solenoid for the truck side to the House batteries failed 5 or 6 years ago. I replaced with an upgraded Solenoid Trombetta "The Bear" contactor. This was slightly larger (Dimensional) than the one Winnebago installed. It fit with room to spare. Much higher quality than the Original I replaced.

RE: Installed a new damper

I installed a Roadmaster Reflex Steering stabilizer about 10 years ago after the solo trip with the new to Me MH. it made a big difference. I remember having issues getting the replacement Bracket to align proper.

RE: Toad charging line

2009 CRV I added a Toad Charge http://www.lslproducts.net/ToadChargePage.html Winnebago was already wired with 7 way Connector. Incorporated the charge wire to the Toad Charge along with the proper wring for the Brake Buddy. EDIT: wow, I just checked current list price.. I paid around $ 50.00 10 years ago.

RE: 12 VDC loss

Check your ground wires where they connect to the frame / chassis. I chased a similar issue with loss of power to certain circuits although everything checked out OK with fuses etc. My grounds were connected to the Ford Chassis Frame rail at a common point using ring terminals (approx 14 wires on 8 ring terminals) half were very corroded where the wire was crimped to the terminal. 1 was broken complete & this was the circuit I was chasing for the better part of a week.
