RE: Battery (really solar panel) Disconnect Question

Had a C40 controller destroyed when one of my 14 yr old batteries went south, so yes it is advisable to disconnect the panels fist, thats the way I was tought when I worked in the solar for 3 yrs. in Arizona and was working for 1 of the best @ Imperial Dam. and all I had was a 80 watt panel charging while the rig was in storage at the time. Just my thought's.

RE: Anti roll bars for fifth wheel with air ride.

If it was mine I would put check valves in the lines so the air can't tranfer, first I heard of anybody installing that system on a fw, How soft does everything need to be????

RE: British Columbia, Canada

The Coke is a fast rd. but very boring and a hard pull from either direction, myself if I travel to Vancouver I take the Fraser Canyon and it is a very good rd now than it was 50 yrs ago, going south from Kamloops I like 5A to go to Princton and on to the US but that is my because I can get see things and not have to drive 140k like most of them on the Coke. Going east from Clearwater I will take the rd. up through Jasper and east from there.East from Kamloops and you have some hard pulls to the Alberta border.

RE: Portable Solar Smoking

RE: DPF Delete Recommendations for Dodge Cummins

Just buy a good tuner or edge chip and you will definately improve your mileage and no black smoke, gross weight 17000 lbs and getting 14.4 us or 16 ltr's per 100 and driving it with 355 gears in the mountains of BC towing my fw.and that is @ 65 -70 mph.

RE: RCMP seek witnesses - Liard Hot Springs death investigation

I kind of figured the bears would get them first, a bloody shame that they won't get any answer's from them but good to see the end of it??? Hello Sue, didn't quite get our plan in order to come up and see you guy's Take Care.

RE: Ice cream?

Set my fridge on high Friday to get a quick cool down and forgot about it till Sunday past, everything in the fridge was frozen top to bottom, and that was in my fw, even a dish of peaches on the bottom shelf was frozen solid, must be a dam good fridge to do that, won't make that mistake again, back to a 3 setting and everything good today but lost a lot of produce.

RE: Attaching solar to roof

Most rigs have a luggage rail on the roof and you can put angles on the rails and hold at least 3 panels, did that with my first 2 panel's.

RE: Solar panel lifespan...

15 yr. old 120 watt Keyocera,s still putting out the same, 4 of them have been under a carport roof since new and 2 out in all weather, checked 1 on the fw yesterday in the shade, over 17 - 18 volts to check a meter that was going bad, broken cable.Do you remember what was paid back then for the 480 watts of solar? Yes I remember quite well, $620.00 a panel and that was in Arizona in 2004.

RE: Hope to Cache Creek

Stay on 1 as the hwy 5 is a hard pull over the Coke to Kamloops and you still have a few hills to pull to get to Cache Creek, I live here and only use hwy 1 to and from Vancouver plus a more scenic drive. If you use hwy 5 you might as well stay on 5 and go to Valemont and go to Prince George on your way to Alaska or go through Dawson Creek- Fort st john to Ft nelson another scenic route, Just my thoughts as I am heading back to Whitehorse next month.

RE: Dawson City > Chicken > Tok AK

Towed my fw across the same route 2 times and likely do the same this summer, lots of vehicle's towing on the TOW hwy which is gravel for about half way, tour busses use it all the time so it can't be that bad, a little dusty if it's hot and dry.

RE: Bob Quinn Lake, BC

It's not very well enforsed Just my thought's lots of place to park, so I wouldn't worry about them, seen those sign's last trip north in 17 but just ignore them, if you are too tired nobody will move you along, and as far as enforement none to be seen on the hwy.

RE: Mounting spare 19.5 Tire underneath

RE: Re-engine a class A

550 Cat rebuild in the Yukon will set you back $60 grand, just to stay away from all this electronic garbage that is out there, but your life can depend on it when a sensor goes south when it's -50 0n the Demster Hwy. Well worth it. A friend up there told me if the company wanted him to buy a new truck, he would quit driving, been hauling to Inuvik for 35 yrs.

RE: ISX 600 HP Cummins engine pros or cons

Its in just about every truck on the road that is pulling heavy loads, so can't be much wrong with it.Definately not needed in a 50,000 lb mh.
