RE: Upgraded my tow vehicle, do I still need a WDH?

For 500lbs if tongue weight I would NOT use WD.

RE: Help Switching to 40' Pusher

Having looked at the new junk you made a good choice. LED Smart TVs are so thin that you can mount them on the face of the cabinet.

RE: Heading to Florida

Guess most don't know where Panama City is or didn't read the OP's post. Hurricane damage and displaced residents living in trailers is going to make finding a site more difficult than normal in that area. You stand a better chance further East below Tallahassee where there was less damage. I would call HoHum CG 850-697-3926.

RE: Weight Distribution Hitch? Newmar

For a 5K trailer you do not need or want WD.

RE: inside lights dim

Dim lights = low voltage = charger/converter not charging. No load voltage of the converter doesn’t tell you much...what’s the voltage when hooked to the batteries?

RE: Help Switching to 40' Pusher

I won’t try and talk you out of such a small MH but I think you’ll find a lot of advantages in something bigger. Biggest item is more CCC with a tag and rock solid handling. I do not have problems navigating gas stations (love GasBuddy), parking lots,CG roads but the trees can be limiting. We just completed 50 nights in the West without reservations...40 nights mainly in USFS CG, 4 night dispersed camping and 5 nights in private CGs with FHUs. Only in Moab did we have a problem finding a site...95 degrees and CGs full. 2.5 hours later we were at 9800’ in a USFS CG in CO. Next morning there was frost on the car.

RE: 2 Years with a Older Class A

I bought a 08 HR Navigator 18 months ago and have put 10K miles on it. Other than 2 new from tires ($1300) most of the following are upgrades..,were not necessary. $700...3 new LED TVs (2 smart TVs) $1000..Silverleaf monitor system. $700...2nd basement slideout tray $1200..900W DIY solar system wit 80A mppt controller $550...880AH of AGM batteries (lead/acid were OK) $300...Induction cook top instead of oven/cooktop... additional storage under $140...resew all 4 slideout toppers $120...70+ led bulbs and 2 clearance lights $60...adjustable mount for the Safe-T-Plus $55....2 fuel filters and engine oil was changed before buying $4650 in upgrades, $200 in repairs, and $1300 for 2 new front tires. Did a 6000 mile trip this summer and the fuel filters were the only not see any major expenses in the next year.

RE: Pressure Pro TPMS battery replacement

I did and the battery is soldered in. Getting it sealed back up will be challenging. As a previous owner you should be able to get them for $25. I would call them.

RE: Stopping at flying j, Cracker Barrel etc

As the owner of a CG, PLEASE go elsewhere if coming in that late. There is a Costco at exit 374 before you get to Knoxville. Not many choices after Newport until you get almost to Asheville.

RE: Fl 441

To begin with there are not many traffic lights but that changes before Deerfield...slow going. I recommend using I-95 to Ft Laud and then get on the TPike using I-595.. Absurd what the TPike costs in a RV. I get off it at YeaHaw and use 60 to Vero and then I-95...only a few miles further.

RE: norcold

Most replace with a 18 Samsung which will run on a MSW inverter (has DC compressor) BUT it’s 6” taller...will come through your Beaver’s door with its doors off. I put in a 21 Whirlpool which almost fit perfectly (ended up 1/2” to tall) BUT I had to take out the driver’s side window to get it in as unlike the Samsung it’s not counter depth. Put in a dedicated PSW inverter to power it.

RE: To Buy or build

Being “Green” in a Prius maybe but not going to happen in a MH at 7mpg regardless of which engine emission standards. 2 years to maybe get halfway done on a conversion or 2 years enjoying a older MH (gasses already vented) that you can customize as you find things you do not like. On second wife will be easier but not cheaper.

RE: High Winds on I-80 in WY

Week ago I came from Denver to St Louis on I-70 with a good tail wind...25 mph+. Started on the right rear and shifted to the left rear. Increased mpg by 1 driving 8-10 mph faster. Other than 3 long construction zones I-70 is in pretty good condition on thick, smooth concrete roads.

RE: A foot of snow in Montana right now

I had some concerns about going West later than normal this summer, August, because of smoke from fires. In 7 weeks we only had a little smoke from a controlled burn for 20 miles one day. Another colder and wetter winter would be good news for the West and the pine trees. Maybe not as good for the center of the country and all the flooding.

RE: Campground washroom needs GFCI

One GFI can protect more than one outlet or it can be in the circuit breaker box...actual GFI could even be in the woman’s side. Might want to do a little more detective work before putting your foot in your mouth.

RE: Side mounted direction indicator

Could not find an exact replacement for one of my overhead led clearance lights so replaced the two side marker lights (same lights) with ones that had blinker lights too. Ran wires from the rear blinker lights for the extra circuits. My mirrors already had indicators in them and having another indication midship was worth doing plus now I have a spare market/clearance light.
