RE: Notify Moderator function

It’s been broken for months. No, the message doesn’t go thru. There’s a work around in one of the threads here.

RE: Hulu price increases TWICE this year!

I'll stick with the ads and my antenna for OTA channels for $5.99.

RE: Current crop of SUV'S

I doubt there is any agreement on what defines an SUV. GM still makes truck framed SUV (Tahoe, Blazer, Suburban) and they have their niche. I think many that had one (including me) got away from them because of their lumbering ride, poor fuel mileage and high step in....all traits we over look if we wanted to tow something with those SUVs. The majority of the SUV buyers doesn't want that. They want a smooth ride with descent fuel economy they can haul the family around in. I don't believe marketing is responsible for the decline of the full-framed SUV, it's consumer demand. Personally, I'd rather have a truck bed than the 3rd row of seating when it comes to a TV. Huntindog, yes VW, Volvo, BMW, Porche, Buick and Subaru make station wagons thought I use that term loosely.

RE: Texas couple killed

Mexican police have made an arrest. No news on extradition back to the states, though.

RE: Texas couple killed

An arrest warrant has been issued for Adam Curtis William (Utah resident) and his girlfriend in connection with this case. I can’t get a link posted but it’s in all the local news sites in Corpus.

RE: South Dakota, July 2020

We did a similar trip in June, omitting Deadwood, Wounded Knee museum and Devils Tower (been there before) but adding Mt Rushmore, Wind Cave, Needles Highway and the 1880s train. You will have plenty of time to see all that in 8-10 days. I agree with wing_zealot that Wall Drug is 2-3 hours tops...The Badlands and the museum will add 3 hours too so it would be a day trip at the most. Before my trip, some had suggested we stay near Wall overnight and hit those attractions (Wall, Badlands) but we stayed in Custer the entire time and the drive from Custer wasn't bad.

Missing couple camping on Padre Island confirmed dead

This couple from New Hampshire went missing Oct 16th after camping south of Bob Hall Pier near Corpus Christi. They went south to a remote part of the beach in Kleburg County (assuming to avoid the Nueces County parking fee) but their family never heard from them again. Their truck and RV were seen spotted crossing into Mexico a few days later. I grew up in Corpus and we camped on Padre Island multiple times when I was a kid...this is heartbreaking. KIII news report

RE: Back up camera

The Haloview brand cameras get pretty good reviews on Amazon and they (Haloview) sell a separate $10 adapter for Furrion mount plates.

RE: HITCHGRIP Carrying Tool

Really like mine when it comes to carrying around my Equilizer head. The tool makes it balance much easier and I can carry it with one hand, not two...and I don't have to touch the greasy ball head. The tool is made of nylon/plastic with steel jaws at the probably weights 1.5 lbs.
Iraqvet05 10/30/19 09:11am Travel Trailers

16,000 lbs?? I wouldn't begin to try to tow 16k with my truck.

RE: "Will my new truck tow it?"....YES, it will.

The 300k weight maybe correct. Remember Toyota towing the Space Shuttle which was also around 300k? They aren’t going for legality or speed, but marketing. Freight trains pull tons of cargo with electric motors, it’s about time a truck dies the same.

RE: Portable or Hardwired EMS?

One advantage of a hardwired unit is you can't forget it. Also, many hardwired units offer more protection than their portable counterparts:

RE: 2020 Albuquerque Balloon Festival RV Reservations

I had talked to a guy a few years ago that was stationed in Albuquerque (NMNG) and he said the hotels and RV parks are booked up months in advance of the balloon fiesta. Based on the number of balloons and the crowd pictures I have seen, I can see why lodging and camping accommodations fill up quickly.

RE: Trouble with California

You know I aint the sharpest tool in the shed but I know this much. You folks are just plain stupid..... They didn't set up the AG inspection stations to harass you, they are trying to protect our resources..... What happens when you bring an invasive species to a place where its not supposed to be, it kills our trees, our fish our agriculture... I mean come on, you all like to come out west and see the beautiful scenery and stuff, eat the produce produced by California, eat the fish caught in the lakes and streams, oceans..... Br refusing these inspections you have the potential to cause harm and damage to all these things... The reason, you were probably singled out was cause yes you are from New York, but maybe its the fact that you are TRAVELING!! DUH....How do you think this **** gets to all these locations??? They hitch rides on boats, cars, RV's, Trailers, Trucks, Airplanes.. yada yada... Pine Beetles, Asian Carp, Zebra Mussels to name a few Wake up People! So, are they doing these inspections on trains, planes, cruise ships, cargo ships, as well as inspecting the luggage of everyone who travels in them? In some instances, yes. I recall having my luggage inspected by the ag department when I flew back from Hawaii.

RE: What happened to all the posts

I think a lot of folks are migrating over to group or pages on FaceBook and Instagram. Ken I’ve been a Facebook junkie since it first came out but don’t use it in place of this or any other web based forum....same with my ham radio references (QRZ is my favorite). I like the flexibility of a website where I can search and see topics listed by category. I use 3 rv forums regularly:, and iRV (my preferences in that order). This forum has a wide range of topics, most of which don’t interest me. The thing that turns me off about this site is the slow response to fix issues and seemly endless, under moderated arguments over the same topics (gas vs diesel, campfire vs no campfire, etc).

RE: Petit Jean State Park, Arkansas

We made the 7 hour drive to Petit Jean a few years ago and loved it. Beautiful area, nice hiking trails and a clean, well maintained CG made well worth the trip. On the other hand, we stayed at Devil's Den state park for 3 nights on the way back and I was very disappointed.

RE: Anyone here upgraded their headlights?

I suspect your headlights are sealed beam least my 2008 Super Duty still have factory sealed beams. Your option would be to swap out the headlight assembly for an aftermarket LED, replace your sealed beams with a better sealed beam (ie Sylvania ExtraVision) or add supplemental lighting. You have to be careful with aftermarket LEDs as the cheaper ones do cause radio interference or have poor light distribution. I have quality aftermarket LED bulbs in my F-250 and have them adjusted down. The cut off is great and I don't get flashed and the truck passes state inspection. I've asked several police in the department I work for (I'm the city mechanic) and the consensus I got was they don't write headlight tickets unless you have one out or you are using supplemental lighting (light bars, driving lights) as your primary lights instead of your headlights.

RE: Fuel mileage 2017 gas trucks

2017 F-250, 6.2, 3.73 gear 4x4. No exaggerated fish story here... about 10.5 mpg unloaded driving around town, 15 mpg highway if I keep it under 60 mph and 8 ish (and as crappy as 5.5) pulling 7,500 lbs.
