RE: General thoughts on Hybrids

I bought a 2004 Prius hybrid that I put 214,000 miles on. In the 15 years I owned it I had 1 brake job done and replaced the starter battery once. I also replaced the wheel bearings around the 200,000 mark and the muffler once. The hybrid battery pack started going bad after 15 years so I bought a 2018 Prius Prime plug in Hybrid. That purchase also got me an additional 4,600 dollar on my federal tax refund.

RE: Pulling a TT that is pulling a Boat Trailer

Assuming your concerned about your home state these are Ga's position: "Georgia Total length: 100' Trailer Length: 53' (56' for boat transports) Trailer Width: 8' 6" Motor Home Length: 40' Motor Home Width: 8' 6" (excluding mirrors) Height: 13' 6" (14' on marked roads) Triple Towing is not allowed Required Equipment: Safety chain, fire extinguisher in RV, flares or reflective signs, brakes required on trailers over 1500 pounds unladen weight. Wipers on/headlights on when conditions require. Headlights must be used when visibility is less than 500 feet. Riding in pickup camper only if riders have free access to drive compartment. Overnight parking is not permitted in state rest areas." Also as far as I know states that do allow it require the middle vehicle to be connected by a 5th wheel.

RE: Shower stall caulking.

While water should not get over the pan lip, the caulk keeps water from sitting between the inside of the wall panel and the lip of the pan. That would not be accessible to clean and mold could form.

RE: fresh water tank overflow syphoning tank dry

So, I guess what I'm asking, are you sure that tube UNDER the trailer is not the drain valve and the vent is somewhere else? I've never heard of having the vent tube 'below' the object it's venting, only above it. What he said. What they said

RE: Transmission is Toast

Not slaying you did or did not follow the proper directions for flat towing but the manual warns of at 35 mph and a 50 mile limit, if not done correctly. From The manual: "Vehicles with an Automatic Transmission - with Ignition Switch Note: There must be battery power to properly move the transmission’s internal components to neutral in step 3. Also, moving the gearshift to the neutral position without first turning the ignition to the on II position limits the towing capability to 35 mph (56 km/h) and 50 miles (80 kilometers). Release the parking brake. Switch the ignition to the on (II) position. Press the brake pedal, then move the gearshift to the neutral position. Wait for a message indicating that the transmission is ready in the information and entertainment display, then switch the ignition off and release the brake pedal. Disconnect the negative (black) cable from the battery. The anti-theft system is disabled until the battery cable is reconnected. See Changing the 12V Battery. Note: The maximum towing speed is 70 mph (113 km/h). Note: There is no limit on towing distance."

RE: Sealing roof vents and AC??? Is it necessary?

I inspect my roof and seams at the beginning and end of every season. Found a few minor issues every now and then that would have led to major problems. Dicor self leveling caulk is a good choice.

RE: Late check out

Don't understand why the owner agreed to your late checkout if he new the site was rented. It's his bad but I would have been irritated also if I had been the arriving campers. Sorry, but personally I think it was rude. You gained 2 hours and took away an hour from them plus a cleaned camp site.
