RE: front cap fading and peelinag

I had a wrap placed on mine as after twenty years buffing and polish just wasn't cutting any more. The cost on mine, which is a TC was about seven hundred.

RE: When does a Pickup become a " Historical Vehicle"?

In Florida it's the type of insurance you carry which restricts how much you can drive the vehicle, not your antique plate. There is a horseless carry plate available to certain vehicles which may restrict driving.

RE: Which RV is right for you QUIZ

Mine came back as a TC which is what I've had for 16 years, not what I've been considering a super C. Maybe worth listening too and keeping the money...

RE: New truck batteries

I have a pair of Duracells in my duramax since 2015 so far so good, also have a pair of six volt Duracells in the TC that are also doing well. Hope I haven't jinx myself.

RE: Tires question

I had used BFG tires on most of my vehicles, but have had separation problems as of late. My last set of BFG TA commercials had only 23k miles before having problems. Two fronts started to separate at the worst time Saturday night going through Atlanta had to replace with pair of Westlake all I could find on a sunday. The rears didn't last much longer which I replaced with good year wrangers. The BFG were 3.5 years old at the time of problems. The truck is also stored inside unless traveling.

RE: Class C vs Class A - Length

I would think a super c would be closer to a class A.

RE: Winegard mission

You have to change the switch type from swm to multi-switch before you can select 18" round antenna at least I do with mine. I think if you hit exit/ menu that should bring up the page wear you can select repeat satellite setup. Then select multi-switch and then 18" round. hope this helps.

RE: Really Disappointing (T/C Weight)

In florida you can buy your plate for the weight of the truck plus what you want to carry. Before I had the TC I registered it for about 1000 lbs over the weight of the truck once I started hauling the TC I increased it to the max rated weight which increased the cost about 55.00.

RE: stopping point/overnight camp between Ohio & Fort Wilderness

I make that trip every august just from the other direction. There are two state parks just off I75 red top mountain north of Atlanta and high falls south of Atlanta. However if I'm only looking for a few hours and the temps aren't to bad I'll use a flying J.

RE: BFG tire disintegration

I also had bad set of BFG, however mine were commercial TA.My front tires separated while on a trip at the worse time.Saturday night while driving through Atlanta. These tires were just under four years with 23000 miles. The tread wear was not good and I figured I would be lucky to get 30000 out of them.Since it was a Sunday when I needed to find tires, the only ones available were Westlake. Never heard of them, but can't be much worse then the BFG and the price was a lot less. Also this truck spends it life in a garage unless camping and air pressure is monitor with a tpms system.

RE: Is there a safe place to stay in Tucumcari?

Stay over night at the flying J there than five nights at ute lake sp in 2017 as we waited for a hurricane move through Texas.

RE: Duramax class action suit

Its not the car companies its the government that requires removal of certain additives. They did the same several years back when they removed/lowered the zinc in motor oils and cam shafts were being wiped out mostly in older vehicle.

RE: I 75 thru Atlanta

Agree no good time, traffic during the day road work at night. Hit a bad spot with road work a week ago hour and a half to go about ten miles with no wear to exit. Just kept saying it beats work......

RE: not your normal tire thread

I also had maxxis tires, however mine were used on a cargo trailer pulled behind a TC. I got about 7 years out of mine. They also had tread coming apart near the edge and minor cracking between the tread no cracking on the sidewalls. With ST trailer tires I think if you can get 6 to 7 years you did well. Guess I got lucky as I also ordered online and mine were about 6 months old.

RE: Hermosa, SD to Cody WY

You went the easiest route if that was uncomfortable be glad you didn't go over the bighorns farther north.

RE: Hwy 308 Red Lodge MT

We did that ride in 2017 up chief Joseph in the silver gate to Yellowstone a ways with a stop in Cooke city , neat little town. Then we road the bear tooth to the red lodge. Wanted a quicker way back to Cody so we took the 308 to 72 back to Cody. Stayed at buffalo bill state park. The wind was really whipping on the bear tooth and catching the fairing on my street glide, would have been a more enjoyable ride on the soft tail. Can't wait to go back.

RE: Anyone use a TPMS for their trailer?

TST 507 caught 3 tire leaks 2 on a cargo trailer towed behind a truck camper. Was able to get off the road before they came apart. Other on inside dual not noticed as there was no weight on the truck. Saved me three tires as all were repairable.

RE: Front Cap Fading

Like you mine also has been stored inside while not in use. I would wax before every long trip and polish with compound if needed. After 19 years it was starting to show its age so I had a vinyl wrap placed on the front. Hasn't been on long enough to tell how it will hold up, but looks great for now.

RE: Dually Mud Flaps Required?

I'm not sure what type rock it is. I just know I've had it stuck between the tires so to the original poster my thoughts are flaps are a good idea. I use a TPMS system and monitor my tires closely. The 2003 GM DRW are closer then others.

RE: Dually Mud Flaps Required?

No its gravel between the tires. Happens mostly without the TC. When I have to park in the over flow at the boat ramp, Plenty of loose gravel have spoke to others with DRW who have said the same.
