RE: Help making a decision on truck purchase.

We’ve been towing our loaded 7200 pound 28 foot fifth wheel with our 2001 Toyota Tundra for more than 20+years without incident. The 5.7L Tundra has even more capacity for towing. The original Tundra was advertised as a truck that was 7/8 of a full size half-ton which is what I loved. All the capabilities of a half-ton and easier to park in tight spots. My payload is 1924 lbs which was more than many of the other half-tons of that era. The 4.7L is super reliable but as others have mentioned, very thirsty for fuel. I average 7-8 mpg while towing. Even when not towing I get around 13/16 mpg. I like the naturally aspirated engine of my Tundra for its reliable longevity but if fuel economy is a primary concern go with the 3.5 Ecoboost from Ford.

RE: Bicycles

We’ve carried up to five bikes(2adults3kids)when the kids were small inside our fifth wheel since 2002 without issue. Now it’s just 2 adult bikes. Just make sure they’re secure enough to not move around too much.

RE: Cover for camper while in storage? Yes/no?

Those that insist on not using covers are the same ones asking about finding replacements for their faded decals or deciding to repaint. After 21 years of camping, all of our original decals on our 2003 still look great. And it isn’t from sitting out in the full Central California sun. Daily direct sunlight is terrible for your rv when it’s not being used. Get a cover

RE: New Maxxis tires

I’m right behind you with about 8.5 flawless years on my Maxxis 8008 tires. They are a great ST tire!
