RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

I'll see you there! Looking forward to it. Sgt. Joe, it's not that far! You just point east, put your foot down, and stop when you get tired. Sooner than you expect, you're there.

Tree sap? Have you tried Goo Gone? A little soak, a little scrub? Ought to work. So does lighter fluid, but wear gloves!

Well lookie there, it's my DOTLs! All of those have transferred to the Rainbow Division, but their cousins Amroth and Nimrodel are ready to Defend here! (And no doubt Erkenbrand is still protesting, "I'm not a girl!")

RE: Today is Constiution Day

I love reading the Constitution, and always read it on Constitution Day, for sure. It used to be a tradition at one of my high schools to read it out loud on that day.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Hello everybody. Looking forward to seeing some of you in Sevierville! How many will there be? It's finally "cooler" here in Vegas (under 100 most of the time). Maybe Fall will happen soon. We'll have about 2 weeks of between 90 and 65 and then WHAM it'll be winter here. I can't wait to leave town. 5 dance classes, 4 anthropology lectures and 1 ball to go.....

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Glad to hear Richard is doing better! One day at a time and by Fall I hope he'll be feeling fine. Our furbabies can't wait for real Fall. It was over 80 at dawn this AM, is 102 now and still rising. We do our morning walks before dawn until well into Fall, which doesn't really happen here until about Oct. 1. Hope everyone is going to enjoy milder weather soon - I think Fall is the best season ever. And if you live in Florida I really hope you're battened down!

RE: Looking for dog breed the travels well while Rving

Don't worry about size or breed! Go down to the shelter and tell them you want a cuddle buddy who likes car rides and walks (which pretty much defines RVing if you're a dog). Let us know what you get - all agog here.

Hoping Sue will post a progress report I'm sure the fur babies are anxious too! Will fill in the waiting time making a packing list for October. RV there yet?

Hello everybody! Wishing Richard the best tomorrow! And those of you moving/cleaning/decluttering - it's always a heartbreaking/interesting/exhausting adventure. Hugs to all of you. Happy National Dog Day!

RE: AARRGHH! Jesse may have anaplasmosis-UPDATE #2D

I'm so sorry y'all are having pooch concerns, but I'm lovin' this thread because I'm learning a lot. Crowe: I have hypersensitive skin too and don't have a problem with Sawyer's. I recommend you get a bottle and spray one sock, wear it around for a day and see what happens. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS, they do make a difference. If you don't react, spray a 2nd sock and try both at once. If still no reaction, do some pants. Then add a shirt.... If you do react, you can still put the Sawyers on your outer layers such as long sleeved shirts, pants, jackets. Or sell it to a friend. It's great stuff.

RE: Rand McNally RVND 5525 LM Screen Recalibration

Holding the lower left corner of the screen while starting did .... something. Suddenly Accept took a click and I was able to get to the recalibration screen. Whew! So thanks MDKMDK, you helped!

RE: Wendy's and the Collies

I am grateful for the EZPass toll transponders because toll booths always had my dogs wondering why the cheapskates didn't give treats.....LOL!! I did meet one MA tollbooth keeper who offered a treat! My dogs recognize both the local Carl's Jr. (that's Hardee's to y'all east and south) and Camping World. Lots of happy barks as soon as we hit the driveway. Both give treats! CW is also air-conditioned and dog-friendly, very important here in the Southwest.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

So glad Suzie is doing better! My Nimrodel hit a patch of slick mud at high speed this morning and did the splits! Heart in mouth, I tell you, but apparently she's ok. Those strains and sprains are a real .... challenge.

Rand McNally RVND 5525 LM Screen Recalibration

(I did search the forum for this topic, I promise) So my screen BADLY needs recalibrating - so badly that I can't get "Accept" the agreement to work. When I tap on "Accept" it moves the Up arrow on the right of the screen! This is NOT useful. Obviously, I can't get into settings by tapping on the screen. Anywhere. Just pressing Reset merely restarts the GPS, which goes back to the Accept screen. Removing and replacing the batteries didn't work either (hey, I'm an old S/A, what do you expect?). I know some models could be reset and go straight to the Recalibrate screen, but I can't find any info on how to do it with the 5525 - which has no Home button. Any ideas? I sent a message to Rand McNally Tech Support, but no response yet, and I'm leaving town on Tuesday....

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Hello everybody. Amazing weather here in Las Vegas NV right now. Quick, hop in your rigs and come west! Our nice weather only lasts a week or 2 and then WHAM it's summer. Let me know if you're coming, we'll leave the light on for you.

RE: Good Sam Online Map search gone!

Dernhelm, Thank you for providing your feedback. Could you please send a private message with the address where you were routing from and the name and address of the RV park? The team handling the issues with the interim Good Sam Trip Planner would like to look into this for you to determine what happened. Thank you, Stacy Good Sam Care Team Message sent

RE: Good Sam Online Map search gone!

Just gave the new trip planner another try, routing to a campground in Salt Lake. The Trip Planner wants me to do a U turn! It's an RV trip planner, so it shouldn't be suggesting U turns unless absolutely necessary, and in this case it could have brought me in from I-15 to avoid the U turn.

RE: Anyone use insect (tick) yard spray before they set up camp?

Coming late to this thread, but tick season is still here and flea season is really getting rolling. We use Frontline on the dogs when we camp because some other brands aren't recommended for dogs prone to seizures. It really works - fun to actually watch the ticks running to get OFF the dog. We never use essential oils on the dogs - see lots of professional veterinary literature on how hard they are on cats & dogs, especially their livers. We don't use the tick/flea pills on the dogs for 2 reasons: The first is that they don't repel the buggers, and I want them to not even attach. The second is that we live in southern Nevada where we simply don't have a problem with them locally. When we lived in Southern CA we used both Frontline and Program with great results. I use Sawyer permethrin on my clothes. I'm allergic to practically everything and have no trouble with it. I also use DEET sprays (usually OFF or related brands) on myself. One of my travel mates swears by putting up his tent, spraying the interior with DEET and then having coffee while it settles. He then unrolls his sleeping bag and voila - tick, flea and mosquito free sleeping area.

RE: Good Sam Online Map search gone!

Just tried out the new trip planner. Couldn't find a way to save the trip for later on their site. As a test I did a trip plan, logged out, logged back in and it was gone. Also didn't see a way to transfer the trip to the GPS. Hopefully they'll fix this soon. I also use RandMcNally Tripmaker which is the same as Good Sam's old trip planner minus the RV warnings and campgrounds. I really count on the RV warnings, so I hope that either Rand McNally Tripmaker turns them on, or Good Sam fleshes out its new trip planner to offer both the ability to save/edit trips and to transfer them to the GPS.
