Outside Shower Mods/Upgrades

Just bought a new to me Truck Camper. Even tho it has a indoor shower, I'm not sure just how usable it really is, not to mention the moisture introduce into the camper. So most of our showers will most likely be done with the outside shower. But the outshide shower fixtures have to be the cheapest, poorly made piece of junk ever made. Are there any better made fixtures for this?? Or has any used better grade residentual fixtures as a mod for this?? A shut off on the sprayer head is manditory. Thanks

RE: Why Not a Palomino TC??

OP here. I ended up with the Palomin, for better or worse.... Hopefully not worse. I understand getting what you pay for concept. But there was just too much $$'s difference. And the only thing option wise different was the NL did have solar and 2 batteries. Thanks all for the info...

RE: Why Not a Palomino TC??

Thanks for all the replys. Not so much interested in this post on if a TC suits me or not, even tho thats a conceern, just not now.. And I have a F350 for hauling a med sized non slide covered. But the main question is why is a Northern Lite, Lance, Big Foot, Etc worth twice the price of a palomino??

Why Not a Palomino TC??

So, still looking for a TC. Looked at Northstar, also new Northern Lites. Really liked the NL a lot, But at $44K+ for the NL, and a similary loaded Palomino at half the price, convince me why the NL is workth twice as much $$'s. I think they all have the same fixtures and many of the same appliances/parts. And we're not even completely sure we are true TC'ers.... since we've never had one.. Give me the skinny.....

Northern Lite 9-6 and Cassett Toilet???

Does a new or late model NL have a casset toilet or a black tank? I googled it and found conflicting info. I did find an announcement where NL introduce the cassette toilet in 2013 but on their website, It doesnt look like it is an option. Yea or Nay??

RE: Hallmark vs Northstar

OP here. I guess my question, instead of which is better, is more of a question of if the 4YO Hallmark was worth as much as $7000 more than a new NS. And it might come down to resale, or if the fiberglass roof/panels are worth more or what?? Thanks Value is in the eye of the beholder. Being in the market for a popup myself I am asking the same question. I'm close to putting down stupid money on a Hallmark knowing full well I'm going to take a huge beating on it if it doesn't work out. I'm a just couple years younger than you so it will be my first and last TC. I don't want to buy and trade on up to what I want - I don't have time to get bogged down w equpment that isn't a pleasure to use. Think of other things you've bought, do you enjoy a mid-level shimano reel or do you get by the cheapest reel you can find? Did you buy a ranger bass boat or a lesser brand? One example is under the bed. The NS has unfinished wood, the Hallmark has a fiberglass sandwich. There are probably a multitude of slight differences. Do little things like that add up to you? If not the NS is new and ready to go. If you don't buy the Hallmark let me know where it is pls. I can't find one used that's close to what I want. You hit the nail on the head about another point. I'm in the same boat. I want to buy a good brand at a good value but at this time I'm not even sure me and wifey will even like this camping lifestyl. Thankfully we have a very nice 5er, Grand Design, that we will juse for extended stays and use the TC for quickie trips or traveeling trips.

Hallmark vs Northstar

I know the Hallmark is quite a bit more $$'s new, but I can get a new Northstar, loaded, about $5K cheaper than a 4YO Hallmark, then I still have to add AC and Powered jacks to it, so make that $7000 more than the NS. Both compariable in size, etc. I'm also 65 so likely to be the last popup TC I will buy. Thoughts??

Can you give specifics? Why one is better than the other? Thanks,

Any Bundutec Bunducamp Owners Here??

RE: Small Window AC vs Roof Top Air

I dont know how a window unit could be any louder than a roof top AC. Ours in our 5th wheel is so loud you cant hear the TV. So if its not too hot we run the bedroom during the day and the LR unit during the night.

Small Window AC vs Roof Top Air

When ordering a new Popup TC (Bundutec), you get a choice of either a rear mounted, small window unit or a roof AC. Whats the pros and cons of each?? Or which make more sense in a popup?? The window unit is about half price of the roof AC. Thanks,

RE: Driving With a Pop Up vs Hardside??

OP here, thanks for all the good info. My main concern or question was more on how the 2 different TC's drive. I understand the popup will hardly be noticable on a 350 SRW. But how does the 350 SRW handle with a med sized hard side TC on it. Will it be fine on most NF roads?? I have no intention on "rock crawling" or "mudding" But do want to get off the pavement and down regular maintained NF gravel roads. And I don't want a white knuckle experience while driving in traffic dow the interstate @ 65 to 70 mph or across mountain passes in CO.

Driving With a Pop Up vs Hardside??

Currently drive a '18 Ford 350 LWB, SRW. What is the feeling between driving a 2000lb (OEM Wt) popup vs a 3000lb hardside?? Daylight and Dark?? Or something you get used to and then no big deal?? We do travel down NF roads, but nothing off road. Not wanting a white knuckle drive... Thinking a Northstar 850SC popup vs a Northside Larado SC Hardside. thanks

RE: Interesting times to be shopping for my new truck camper

"PS - The 35% number is what it would take for me to do it in this insane economic meltdown that has just started. Now the FED is saying unemployment could reach 30%! Good lord..." I would also buy a new rig @ the 35% number, but I don't think my dealer is there, yet..

RE: Interesting times to be shopping for my new truck camper

We are in the same position. We have a nice 5th wheel, but have been wanting a popup TC for weekend and quick, short get aways. We have the ability to pay cash for new. So a week ago we visited the local dealer to look and price. Had a good idea on what we wanted. Looked and liked. Pricing was decent, but not a killer deal. Intended on going back or calling on Monday last week to seal the deal and buy. But after last weekend and things changing so fast, we've decided to wait a bit to see just what the economy is gonna do and possible the prices come down a bit. So, we're in a holding pattern.... Still intend on buying, but just not today..

Buy Now or Wait on the Crazyness to Subside??

Been looking and was planing on buying a new TC this coming week. Now I'm thinking on waiting till the Corona Crises has settled down or at least leveled out. Or the dealer may be a little more motivated now...... Thoughts???

RE: Solar on a Pop Up Truck Camper ? or 2

I think I'll let Arizona Sun & Wind put together a system with the proper wire sizes, controller, breaker box/fuses and do it myself. I'm just not sure the dealer will install a good, matched system. Once I get it all nailed down, I'll post and get some review of what I'll hope to be doing Thanks all

Solar on a Pop Up Truck Camper ? or 2

I'm buying a new NorthStar 850SC pop up truck camper. The dealer is installing a 170w panel on top, a 30a controller with 2 AGM batteries. Says he's done a lot of this install which is supposed to be the exact option that comes from the factory if ordered. I was thinking of having him install a outside plug for another 100w suitcase solar panel for those times when the camper is in the shade.. Will I need to have a larger controller installed so I can run both panels, 270w total?? Or are there any flaws with my thinking???? thanks
