RE: Air conditioner noise reduction

Rob, This is what I ordered from Amazon in 2018 based on this statement I found on irv2. Although it doesn’t specifically say, it did include a metal plate and some adhesive sound deadening. “ While we were at the THOR diesel Club rally in Goshen, the Dometic rep told us that if we switched out the air return cover to the basic one (no grill opening for the blast of air) it would be much quieter. Just did it and it is much better. Costs about $50 from Amazon. use search term Dometic 3105007.045.”. Here is the link to the actual one I ordered. Gary Thanks Gary. Much appreciated. Rob

RE: Cleaning top of slideout

Toppers will mold when retracted wet and not extended soon after to dry. So do the awnings and even when you close them up dried they still wick in moisture. Mine get rolled up dry every time and next time I open them after it rains they are wet and I get dripped on. Rob

RE: Air conditioner noise reduction

We have a ducked Dometic heat pump and installed the Dometic version of this sound reducer. I believe it was less than $50. It too does away with the rapid cooling vent and adds some sound deadening to the input area. Easy install and made a noticeable difference in overall noise level. Gary Gary can you please post a web link to this or some other information so that we can have a look and possibly order one as well. Thanks, Rob

RE: Upgraded F150 tires to E

Probably nothing to most of you... but i put new tires on the F150 and went with Michelin Defender LTX, which comes in both D & E, I chose the E. I don't recall what tire the truck had, somebody had suggested it was B range... but IDK. I'm only towing a 5k trailer, but what a difference this tire upgrade made. Used to be if a semi blew past me at 10 over my speed, or a full size truck at 20 over my speed (65mph), I'd feel a little wiggle. NOTHING, NADA, now! There's also less bounce with and without the load leveling bars. Without a trailer, the tires are slightly noisier, and slightly rougher ride. We're doing a big trip soon, and while the old tires with 50k miles on them still had lots of wear left, I didn't want to tow the trailer a long distance and possibly in snow with those tires. Glad you are happy with the LRE tires. When I went from P rated tires to LRE tires on my Tundra years ago I was expecting a big improvement towing. I couldn't tell the difference. Even when I went to the bigger trailer and I towed with P rated winter tires vs the LRE tires I didin't notice a difference either. Glad you are happy and notice an improvement, I just never did.

RE: 27 footer vs 32 footer, towing/handling difference?

Been towing a Crossroads 222RB for a few years, it is 27 feet long, 5K UVW. Looking at 32 foot TT's, wondering if there's much difference in towing/handling/managing the extra 5 feet and 1500 pounds? Tow vehicle not an issue, just looking for experience of moving up in length/weight, and if there's any additional hassles... :) Little bit more care at the gas station and in the campground but nothing that you will not get used to very quickly.

RE: 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton

I wonder how many times we are going to hear "You can never have too much truck" or "I never heard someone complain that they had too much truck"....or, "You won't even know it's back there." Just bought a RAM 3500 SRW with the 6.7 Cummins and I still know the trailer is back there and it is 9500 lbs loaded. Anyone who says they can't feel the trailer back there even if they have way more truck that they need isn't paying enough attention. To the OP sorry to hijack the thread. You will be fine with a properly setup 1/2 ton. I did it for 11 years with a trailer same weight as yours.

Moved it back to the mark on the fridge and all is nice and cold again.

RE: Wierd Marks Appearing On Tires

I think it might be a replacement indicator. With all of the sipping not sure but look like a winter or true 4 season tire. Winter tires and true 4 season tires with the mountain snowflake have a second set of wear indicators to show when there is not enough tread left to be safe in winter conditions. If you have the severe winter mountain snowflake on these tires I am pretty sure that is what this vertical line is.

RE: Grand Design after sale warranty treatment

We bought an Imagine 2600RB last september, 13 months ago, thrilled with the trailer. Life got in the way, we were only able to use it twice in the following year, this last trip I thought I had a bent axle, as the trailer didn't sit level or look right, a quick stop at the dealer we bought it from determined no bent axle, so we continued on, total mileage around 3000 kilometers, (2000 miles)and after much measuring, found a spring flattening out, which led to the spring beside it flattening as well. Apparently, an issue with Dexter axles and springs, and not uncommon. An email to Grand Design resulted in a request from them to contact Dexter, which I did, and the results were less than satisfactory, them asking me to fill out the warranty form as the spring was only warranted for a year, and I was a month over, and....they wanted me to ship the spring so they could examine it before issuing a replacement. I live in a small town in British Columbia, got any idea what that would cost me? Yeah, right, like thats gonna happen. So, another email to Grand Design, talked to the same VERY nice woman, VERY helpful, who tells me what she thinks of Dexters policy, and tells me four new springs and hardware will be sent to the dealer nearest me, and I could install them, I run a hot rod shop, so she would trust me to install them as per their specifications. Just like that, no hassle, no problems, she says, send her pics of the damage and Grand Design would ensure I was taken care of. As a result, they've earned a customer for life, and my son has completed a deal on the same unit as a result of their actions. No, I don't work for them. Its a genuine relief to deal with companies that stand behind their products. That is great news. Glad to hear Grand Design stood behind their product. One of the reasons I bought one about a year ago. I had trouble with the cable TV not working and traced it to the antenna amplifier. Went to the local dealer and they could not help me. Wanted to charge me a service fee. A 5 minute call, not even any waiting on hold, and Grand Design is sending me a new one. No hassles or anything. Very nice to deal with.

Glad you are happy with the Ridgeline. Seems a perfect combo for what you need it to do. Some people on here insist that you need a 1 ton dually to tow a pop up trailer. Thought the preferred TV for a popup was a singled Class 8 tractor? :B:B Thanks for the correction!! ;):D

We washed vehicles Sunday and the CRV had them pretty bad. They should be gone in a couple of weeks. I have seen them worse, I think last year they were not bad at all, IMHO. Thanks. Glad we will miss them. Heard they are quite the mess on the trucks and trailers.

RE: Not A Joke Top Off With Gasoline or Diesel

Do a little research. You may find that in the East, Quebec is the bottle neck. To the South (USA) we have no control over access. To the West the twinning of the existing line has to go through environmental hoops and hearings. (And no, I'm not a capital L liberal). Buy CANADIAN oil, not blood oil. I agree but how do you do that with a man-child as our Prime Minister blocking our own pipelines? Agree on both points but time to get rid of the crooked, lying, entitled man child in October. Such an embarrassment to all Canadians but then I guess you get drama when you elect a drama teacher to lead the country.

Came down I-75 from central Georgia to Tampa on Saturday and in southern GA ( fromm around Cordelle) to about Gainesville, we hit love bugs--- what a mess. It's just the beginning, more to come ! RE: New Trailer and Truck

I currently pull a TT (<10k) with a 08 Ford Superduty (SRW). We are looking at switching to a new trailer (5ver) and likely a new truck. We are considering a Grand Design (Solitude 344gk). It maxes at around 16k lbs. We really love the new 2020 GMCs. I also intend to put a fuel tank in the bed (1000 lbs) and a heavy hitch (Hensley). My dilemma is SRW vs DRW. I really prefer a SRW (size, parking, etc.), but don't want to make a mistake and have to replace the truck in 2 years. I live in NM, so altitude and mountains are a real effect, but we want to use it to travel the country as I retire. Any real world advice/experience would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Dry weight on that trailer is 12600 lbs from the factory. Based on my Grand design trailer add about 400 lbs to that for 13,000 lbs. Add 1500 lbs of stuff you are at 14,500. At 22% pin weight would be 3190 lbs. Add 1000 lbs fuel and 300 lbs hitch total payload is nearly 4500 lbs. My SRW Ram 3500 has a payload of 3830. Seen as high as 4150 when shopping. I think you are gong to need a DRW truck.

Post the numbers when you pick it up? GAWRs, GVWR, and payload. Congrats! Will do. I know payload is 3830 lbs and GVWR is 11,800 lbs. Will confirm the rest once I pick it up. Don’t forget post about new TV is worthless without pictures! Pictures added. Never posted pictures before. Just figured it out and way too easy.
