RE: senior pass

Another vet here. Incredible that someone can equate working at a 7-11 with military service. Let me guess how much skin you have in the game. Thanks for the support. I was beginning to believe that I was the only one that was bothered by this. It was such a stupid statement, I didn't think anyone would take it seriously. But you all have my support on that as well fwiw.

RE: senior pass

When I bought my pass, I understood it to be a contract. A payment against future use of services/goods. That said, I am reminded of the scene in Star Wars where Vader says "I have altered the deal. Pray that I don't alter it more." (or something like that)

RE: Snake Repellent Testing - Advice

NH is just trolling. Best to snicker at her and then ignore.

RE: need help

Seems like there was a thread recently detailing many many experiences in Louisiana where they hunted RVs to award them speeding tickets or the most minor traffic violations. So I guess the lesson there was Stay on the Interstate thru LA.

RE: Roof: Not leaking, but 20 yrs old

I would first wash and clean loose caulk off the roof. Then, cover the seams and edges with Eternabond and Dicor Self Leveling Lap Sealant. Finally (assuming it is a rubber roof) I would coat the roof with Heng's Rubber Roof coating. It needs no primer and goes on easily. Or use the coating of your choice. Whatever you chose, make sure the seams and caulking is in good condition.X2 Yep.

RE: Want to start an RV park...

Please don't count on your real estate agent to figure out ALL of the permits/requirements. Talk to your county zoning/business regulatory/etc folks as well. And I still think that involving an intelligent lawyer (they aren't common nor good looking despite what tv tells you) early in the process will save you headaches. Best of Luck! Post here when you open and if youre anywhere nearby, we'll visit.

RE: senior pass

Typical of gov to sell you something then reneg once they have your cash. As compared to a corporation that bought you life and health for decades, them just when you think you can enjoy life, "We can't afford to pay the retirement benefits you where promised. Dude! You believed an insurance company?!?

RE: Hobbies in the off season?

Metal detecting, fly racing drones, play beer league hockey, read, surf the net, pistol matches/practice, fishing, exercise........heck, I have more to do now than when I was working.

Typical of gov to sell you something then reneg once they have your cash. That said, the last place I want to be is some place that needs restricting the tourists somehow. So no effect on me personally.

RE: Wish us luck, pray for the marriage

Youll be fine. We've done a month in a 186 with a Large Dog. Only complaint was when 1 of us needed a nap, it was hard for the other to be quiet unless s/he left the TT.

RE: Who has sold everything and started rving for life

How can you put a price on their leaving? Surely that is worth way more than any reasonable storage fee you can think of....

RE: Sleepless nights

Seriously, Chems (legal or not) are not the answer for sleeplessness. Exercise. And rem that as we age, our need for sleep often changes. Your goal is to find what is right for You.

RE: Want to start an RV park...

You're not the first to come here seeking advice. Look around, there other threads on your topic. That was my first thought. My second thought was to find a local lawyer to form a LLC for your venture. After that, see what the lawyer advises re starting a local business. And good luck!

RE: Warranty work on TT v 5r v MH

If we're talking new vs new vs new, it's purely luck of the draw. As mentioned, they're all boxes with furnishings inside on wheels. No reason for a moho to have more issues than the other 2. But you gotta count the tow vehicle in the equation with the other 2. Yes, just looking at new v new v new. But NOT looking at tow vehicle at all. Just at how much Quality the manufacturers put into their new product. I didn't intend to discuss Total Troubles with one vs the other. Just thinking along the lines of how much quality parts and workmanship the companies put into their products. It seemed to me that there are many threads/posts discussing the problems with TTs from the factory and lamenting that finding Quality there was dang near impossible. I haven't owned a MH, but the folks I know that had them didn't seem to complain as much about them. Maybe its a 'type of person that buys' one of the other. Obviously from the posters here, I missed the boat.

RE: Warranty work on TT v 5r v MH

Interesting, folks. Thank you all for your thoughts. (some folks pls rem that I am only talking about warranty work- of course the more 'things' one has, the more 'things' that can go wrong eventually)

Warranty work on TT v 5r v MH

I've been at this RV thing for a while now and it is my impression that (proportionally) there is a lot more warranty work done on TTs as opposed to 5ers and MHs. And less to a MH than a 5er. This makes sense as more money spent seems to = better build. What do you all see/think about this observation? Does it fit your experiences?

RE: Thousand Trails/Encore Trails Collection info?

The only part of the Collections add-on is the pricing structure. I'm not concerned with the $199 as advertised on their website, but I find it odd that it isn't prorated and renews on your TT anniversary date. Our date is in March, so if we added it today, it would be $199 for 3 1/2 months, then another annual renewal cost of $199. Why make it an annual fee based on the date of enrollment...the fine print I guess! Maybe I'm not following you guys but couldn't you just start a new membership today in another name-say your DW/DH or even the dog's name? That'd give you a full year at the full price.

RE: jack pads

I use the engineered composite plastic decking boards- thickest ones I can find. If you need the wider than you can find, place them side by side and then stack the next layer 90degrees to the previous one.

RE: RV storage - how much room is needed?

Also remember your angle of attack when considering your overhead clearance. If your ground is all flat, then you are fine, of course.
