RE: Safe route from Mesa Arizona to Rochester NY

Very clever Tom. A shorter route would be straight north to Canada and east.
But we love 101 along the coast to BC and it's a wonderful trip.

RE: Backwards buttons

I want to make tags to identify them right on the wires. And then take and retain pictures.

RE: Backwards buttons

OP What you have learned is that DC motors turn in the opposite direction when the polarity is reversed.
Check everything especially items you don't use often and have a great trip.

RE: Dometic duo therm fan issue

Remove the compressor wires and see what happens. Doug is right as you are headed towards a new unit and if it's 26 years old...:(

RE: Do golf cart chargers always charge to equalize voltage?

Interesting that the manual says the batteries should bubble at the end of the finish stage. If finish means the end of stage 3 ie float voltage then that's new to me. If instead it means during equalization then that is normal. And they do recommend equalization every 30 days. It's not clear to me as the chart shows both float and equalization. They also state to avoid contiuous float if charged for more than once a week.

RE: Dometic duo therm fan issue

Does it work on the pedestal?
Did it every work on the gen?
Could be a locked rotor.
Or a gen issue.

RE: Do golf cart chargers always charge to equalize voltage?

"Part of their answer was that it will do an equalize charge every ~ 30 charge"
Wondering how they determine this.
Also charging each battery independently may have resulted in inconsistent charging. Plus it can take a few charging cycles for new battery stabilization.

RE: Do golf cart chargers always charge to equalize voltage?

Did you measure the voltage at the battery posts? There will be some, perhaps small voltage loss for all of the cables.
I would use the Trojan bulk spec of 9.88V. My understanding is that equalize is only needed when required due to lower than expected voltage. Are you suggesting once a month because it's used every day?
I believe Trojan has information on charging and equalization.

RE: How To Adjust a Crooked Power Gear Slide out

Obstruction, loose mounts, bad roller, seals, single/dual motors etc are possibilities. Mechanism type/model can help.
For Sunday travel maybe a mobile tech?

RE: Awning misaligned when rolled up?

In my experience, the vinyl awning material does not slide easily in the track, even with no tension on it. Age, dirt etc can contirbute...:(

RE: Awning misaligned when rolled up?

It looks like the canvas is not rolling up flat on the roller. This could also be related to age (13 years) and need to be replaced. Also check that the canvas screws/retainers are in place keeping it taught fore/aft on each end.

RE: Awning misaligned when rolled up?

You should be able to move the canvas fore/aft on either canvas end after any retaining screws are removed and tension releaved. It's also possible that the 2 canvas ends are not parallel.

RE: need help with wiring on KIB monitor panel

Can't find a diagram online with color codes Never assume anything about wire color. Even IF a mfg intends to use certain colors they will not stop production because a certain color is not available. Nor is there any requirement for wire colors.

#3 Consider wiring so that both ATS default to the inverter to minimize battery power drain.

RE: Older Class A Electrical

You seem to be suggesting some type of whole house setup with the inverter. Suggest keeping it simple with a new 120V circuit for the inverter.

RE: Full Timing with Solar and Shore Power

The only answer to your question is for you to do a energy audit to determine your usage that solar can replace. Perhaps plug the RV into a Kill A Watt device to measure the power used. Or a battery monitor can provide usage. Measure without shore power.
My guess is that your solar savings vs total cost is small. A/C power usage is high, is your heat, HW and refer propane or AC?
Monthly sites w/o a meter result in no savings. My experience is that metered sites rates are high. Figure perhaps $0.20/kWh, might be less today but more down the road.

RE: Full Timing with Solar and Shore Power

120V devices take a lot of power and you have a small solar battery setup. For example a 10A A/C would require the inverter to draw 100A from the battery, hence you have 2 hours of run time plus a few minutes if the sun is out.
You could save a little but it's very dependent on your AC device usage and DC usage.
Your charger and solar controller don't trump each other. Each contributes to the house loads and any remaining power charges the battery.
