RE: Longer closure gathering momentum...

On Vancouver Island the reason we have lower stats with the Virus is “We have a moat around us” :) Sorry if you think we are being harsh with the border but we have worked very hard to avoid this Virus and it would be a shame to negate that now. This thing is not done with us yet. It is better to err on the side of caution. When you look at the number of people who have died from this it is hard to see each one on its own. I bet their families would have liked us to have done more. I hope there is a light at the end of this dark tunnel......Mike

RE: Be Kind!

Stewart B.C. vows to look after their Neighbour a small Town in Alaska that has no access other than crossing the US Canadian Border. This is the Way it should be. Proud to be a Canadian. I quote a comment left on the CBC web page. “Invisible lines are no match for people with big hearts” How true. CBC News.CA

Be Kind!

It’s terrible what is happening right now. People are scared and in fear of losing there loved ones. We are all in this together. This Virus is not picky on who it attacks. We need to support and help each other and to do what we can. This is a time to make it about someone else not about you. Be Kind, stay safe and do what you can to stay healthy......Mike

RE: US Closes Mexican and Canadian borders

The closure is mainly to stop the virus from crossing the border. There are lots of exceptions to the closure such as the free movement of trade. Canadians can always return to their home country. As is the case with Americans crossing to return to theirs. If you are sick you will be isolated in your own country if you arrive by land. If flying you might not be allowed on board. If you arrive from any other Country you must self isolate for 14 days.

RE: Looks like the Canadian border is CLOSED.

Too much false information. The Canadian border is closed to all foreigners except Canadians or permanent residents of Canada and Americans. The recommendation is to avoid non essential travel at this time. You should self isolate yourself if you have been in contact someone who has the virus to avoid spreading it to others. This would not be a good time to visit as most restaurants and bars will be closed. Gatherings of more then 50 people is also banned. There is no sports being played and the ferries have reduced sailings. Hospitals have cancelled all elective surgeries in case there is a surge of those with COVID 19. The recommendation is to return to your home and to practise social distancing.......If you are young and healthy you more then likely will recover from this virus. Those that are older with health issues could have a far worse experience......Be safe....Be kind....and Good luck...Mike

RE: British Columbia, Canada

Me thinks you've left a vast experience behind here. You have a chance to go on a Sea Cruise through the San Juan Islands without spending a lot of money. It's an adventure with the opportunity to see a whole bunch of different interesting spots. The capital city of Victoria could take a week in itself with all the various things to do such as the Empress Hotel, Parliament buildings, Royal Museum, Beacon Hill park with their hands on petting zoo, A tour on the Victoria Harbour City Ferry boats and a trip to the World famous Butchart Gardens. This doesn't even scratch the surface of this city. Or Vancouver Island where you can get as busy or as relaxed as you like. There are several ways to get here. Through the Gulf Islands with the B.C. Ferries. The Washington State Ferry through the San Juan Islands from Anacortes Washington or the Coho Ferry From Port Angeles Washington. There are tons of guide books a few of them such Camping B.C or Times Colonist Discovery Magazine
