It seems that mother nature has the last say on my 5,000 mile Yellowstone trip. The flooding has wiped out many road sections in the northern end of the park. Some roads are not expected to reopen this season. Some things just ain't meant to be.

Looks like the prediction for 2023 fuel price is not much better. So putting our trip off until next may not make much of a difference on fuel costs.

I've still not made a final decision on our 5k mile trip this summer. Our decision isn't between going or sitting home. Our decision is between going or doing something else where I'm not burning $3,000 or $4,000 worth of diesel. Just that diesel money would come close to paying for two back to back 7-day Caribbean cruises (2 ppl) or one Alaska cruise (2 ppl). The two unknowns effecting my decision are: how much higher diesel will go this summer and will it come back down by next summer. Who knows?

Please, no political comments.
We have a 5,000 mile trip planned with reservations made, but we are reconsidering due to fuel prices. 60 cents per mile for diesel is pretty bad.

I need a new Miller mig welding machine. I've been looking at them for the last 3 years. In that time the machine I wanted has gone from about $2400 to $4000. Whoever is saying inflation is 7.9% is full of it.

The second advantage of co-phased antennas is there ability to perform where there is little reflective ground plane for the single antenna to radiate its energy from. For instance, on fiberglass vehicles or those with light aluminum sheeting over a non-metallic frame. In those situations a co-phase set-up allows the antennas to use each other's radiation field to direct the combined energy across the horizon. In order to be effective at least 2/3's of each antenna must have unobstructed line-of-sight to the other antenna.

I generally use our cb when we are traveling with others who have cb radios. I only switch to 19 when there is a wreck/traffic back up or I'm just bored.
Swearing doesn't bother me on 19. What does piss me off is the racist insults aimed at people out working hard just trying to earn a living.

A fender mount can't handle a 5 footer?
I have a fender gap mount on our jeep jk. I would not trust it to handle a 5' antenna.

On our old lance I mounted two 2' firestik antennas on the top of the ladder.. Since they "saw" each other, they used each other as a ground plane. That setup worked very well.

I mounted a 5 ft Firestik right in the center of the front bumper on our 2018 F350. Works great.
