RE: Question on solar wiring

Connect both the inverter and charge controller to the battery. When you are plugged in both the charge controller and converter may charge the battery at the same time. They both play well together.

RE: first time sanitize fresh water tanks

When I was a kid, I had the first drink of water after my dad had earlier sanitized the tank in our TC. I vomited quite a bit that first morning of our trip until my own personal sanitation was complete. I've never forgotten that and never sanitized the fresh tanks in any of our RVs. If the water has sat too long, I drain it and refill it. 100% vomit free. Your Dad should have drain and flushed the tank before you took your first drink. :B

RE: ALBERTA PARKS NOW OPENING

I don't blame those 4 provinces doing what they are doing. They have the lowest confirmed cases in Canada and want to keep it that way. All the power to them. If a person thinks that the Charter of Rights is more important than a Province trying to protect their people that person is a fool.

RE: % bleach to sanitize fresh water tanks

"I think I'm done..." I would say so, now go out and have fun.

RE: % bleach to sanitize fresh water tanks

After draining the bleach, I suggest adding a cup or two distilled vinegar when you refill the tank. Drain again and refill with water only. What is the reason for the vinegar mixture?

RE: % bleach to sanitize fresh water tanks

I have always used 8 oz of household bleach for my 30 gallon tank. 1000:1 sounds right. As per your link above.

RE: Lassen Volcanic National Park Opens

And some people wonder why the United States has the highest infection rate in the world. I think the post above tells the story of why the rate is not dropping as quickly as other countries. Which is really unfortunate.

RE: Most expensive camp chair!

There are gullible people out there that will gladly pay $300 for a $50 chair. I bought chairs very similar to that one at Walmart 9 years ago for $30 each. They are still holding up like new.

You're welcome.

RE: first time sanitize fresh water tanks

Turn on pump and open a hot faucet until water starts to flow. The "bleachy"water will pump from the water tank into the water heater. Also no need to open release valve on water heater, just open a hot faucet when draining the tank.

RE: Forgot the battery??????

You NEED a battery...which powers the trailer brakes if the TT breaks away. Serious safety issue. "Upon our arrival at our property in MI where we keep our permanent trailer"

RE: New and looking for a generator

Good to hear you solved the problem. Be sure to press the battery switch to off when not using the genny, save the battery from discharging.

RE: New and looking for a generator

If the oil level is not correct, it will not start. The Champion is a fine generator... call tech support. That sounds like it could be the problem. They are shipped with no oil in them.

RE: Batteries

$150 for a pair of Group 24 hybrid lead acid batteries at 160 ah that will need replacing in 3-4 years. Or $240 for a pair of GC2 deep cycle batteries at 215 AH that will last 7-8 years or longer. I would take the GC2 batteries any day.

RE: Batteries

Nothing wrong with those. But if you're thinking of a short term or temporary solution there might be better choices. Golf cart batteries are good at charge cycling. They do far better than standard lead acid being deeply drained. They often come in high capacity too. For a single trip, total amp hours is what you need. For my first long trip I got some cheap Walmart 'deep cycle'. Under $100 each! Granted I abused them and killed them in a season. I did that because like you I wasn't ready to spend big bucks on a long term kit. After that I was ready and just finished a lithium conversion. It's all in knowing your goals! In this case, would I be better off getting two new Interstates and wire them to double the amp hours? No, you would not be better off. The two Duracell give you more amp hours and have a longer life span than the Interstate 24's.

RE: Batteries

You would be good to go with a pair of those Duracells.

RE: Travel When Restrictions lifted

"People, please stop posting the same drivel the news media hypes up every day. We do not need the hear verbatem the same thing repeated." Maybe you should follow your own advice.

RE: BC Residents only

BC is making it very clear that it is BC residents only in the provincial campgrounds. If a camper were to have non-BC plates, they could/will be refused. https://www.castanet.net/news/BC/300622/Camping-in-BC-provincial-parks-for-BC-residents-only-this-year?fbclid=IwAR3XHCSlA_cguIGZfNwAJRFOrKdLOEFVYS6q8lx7LiC8Z1xyd81My6c5avo#300622 Gary HauptCool Idea. Maybe Arizona could do the same and keep the state campgrounds open only to AZ residents during the snowbird season. I sat on my fingers for 24 hours, wondering if I had the energy to respond to this sort of trash talk. I guess I do.. You have singled out snowbirds, so I will take it personally. Your comment is so typical of the nonsense coming out of some folks mouths. Protectionism, US only...that idea may appeal...right up until it doesn't meet the countries needs, then it's all about 'now what'. Be ever so careful what you wish for..water, oil, foods..oh...airfields to park your aircraft and passengers in the event of another tragic event. I can hear the voices now...'we don't need...'. Oh yeah...you do. By all means..stay out of ours...or be thankful we are good neighbors who are doing what is necessary too look after things. Soon enough, people will be able to cross the border and carry on with their lives. And people like you don't need to travel BC to get north...take the ferry. Gary Haupt Well said Gary. Thank you Two thumbs up. X2 Go Gary!

RE: first time sanitize fresh water tanks

You may not have low point drains, not all trailers are equipped with them. Trailers without them use compressed air to blow out the lines when winterizing.
