RE: Pink Antifreeze Stain

Try bleach, it might work.

RE: Hwys closed and wild fires in BC & Alberta

campgrounds are going to get a lot harder to find in Alberta now. They just shut down a large area of rec sites and back woods camping due to extreme fire risks. Have not heard of any closures. No fires or off highway vehicles allowed for now. Update: Just found a notice about some Provincial Parks being closed, but not boondocking areas.

RE: Generator dB rating

Heres one at Canadian Tire. That is close to Honda pricing.... No where near close. The Honda 3200 watt is $3200. The Champion 5500 watt is $1300.

RE: Generator dB rating

I find the dB ratings to be misleading, not useless. Some sounds within a rating can be more annoying. Then "quiet" generator is relative, A quiet Honda generator is quiet compared to an open frame construction generator. But hardly quiet.o What I speak of is that.... You can carry on a conversation around the Honda ones.Good luck doing that to a Champion. Which Champion generator are you referring to? Open frame contractor-style or inverter generator? Nearly every owner of a Champion inverter generator, that I've seen post on various RV forums, loves their Champion. The open frame ones. Here in Canada, I have yet to see any other style for them. Have a look here - Champion Inverter Generators - Canada

RE: Generator dB rating

I don't know what you mean by "Honda Quiet". Since Honda doesn't make a 3500 W generator, there is nothing to compare it to. So how many dB's do you consider to be "Honda Quiet"? Secondly, are you looking for 3500 W surge or continuous? At least for me, It's hard to be helpful when the parameters seem to be rather vague. I'd also like to mention, that i thought dB measurenments for portable generators was always at 7 meters, at 1/4 load. That's the only dB ratings i ever recall seeing. What I want is 30A available at all times. That is the rating of my trailer. So, as I understand that works out to be about 3500-3800W Even at full load, the smaller 3000W ones seem to be quiet in comparison to most others. The db rating for the Honda 3000 is pretty good.

Honda 2000 - 57db Champion 2000- 53 db How can the Honda be quieter with a higher db rating? Honda @ rated load is 57, 1/4 load is 53. Champion only claims 53, probably 1/4 load but don't give @ rated load db. Yep, the 53db is more than likely at 1/4 load. So they both have the same rating.

Swap out all the upgrades. They are worth more than what you could sell the trailer for.

I added 3 feet of hose to my macerator and it works just fine.

RE: How critical is it to have a perfectly level trailer?

Putting the propane tank in the truck will reduce the tongue weight, but not the payload weight. To reduce the tongue weight a bit remove the battery/s and place them inside the trailer. If the chains are a couple inches off the ground they are OK.

RE: Battery drain over winter

I fully charge the golf cart batteries in the fall then disconnect them. They sit outside until spring and lose less than 10% charge over the winter. They are 11 years old and still going strong.

RE: Trailer hitch height adjustment and chain question

I can not recommend which ball mount to purchase. But as far as the chains are concerned. The length should be OK once you get the proper height with the new ball mount.

RE: Hot water heater question .....

So I got my fridge question answered and now on to the hot water heater. Our trailer was advertised with a gas only hot water heater. Upon investigation it has a breaker in the back and a plug under the sink labeled for the hot water heater and the heater model is also gas/electric. The switch inside the camper only controls the gas. Any reason why they would set it up as just gas and not electric?? Would there be any reason we couldn't still just put a switch under the sink for that plug and use it as electric when plugged in? Just seems so weird they didn't put in an electric switch next to the gas one like the old days. 2023 Forest River RV Wildwood 31KQBTS Thanks! No reason why you can not do that. Use a switch such as this one, so you can tell whether the water heater is on or off.

RE: How do you sanitize your fresh-water tank and lines?

Wow, lots of useless answers on how to use the least amount of water. To the OP, try this: Fill fresh water tank with 15 gallons of water and 1/2 cup household bleach. Tow your trailer around for about 10-15 mins to slosh the bleach mixture around. Bypass the water heater, then pump the mixture through the hot and cold water lines. Leave mixture sit for a few hours then drain the tank and fully fill with water. Run the fresh water through each hot and cold line for 15-20 secs. You are done. Works fine for me. Do you not feel the water heater needs disinfecting too? Some water sits in it all winter. If there is a rotten egg smell in the hot water then I sanitize the water heater. If not I don't bother with it.
