RE: We are gonna go camping!

Blackdiamond ~ride Hysteria, Love that area! I haven't been there since October when I broke some ribs, then had Pulmonary embolism from it in December, so last weekend was my first ride in quite awhile. My buddy told me that they recently tried to close off a bunch of trails, blocking with logs and stuff. Probably will go check it out in a couple weeks, once the snow melts.

RE: We are gonna go camping!

Went riding yesterday, had a great time one the way home I saw tons of THs and RVs pulling toys. I am either riding or riding/camping next weekend. Awesome. Must have been great. No dust. We were invited to go out next weekend, but I got voted down by the rest of the family. Maybe the following weekend. There's little to no contact with others on a desert trip. Pay at the pump and wear gloves. Don't go into town other than fuel. Camp in the boonies and keep to yourselves. Do you have any pics of your trip? I think we could all use trip pics. I think eDUBz was the last one to post trip pics, and that was a while ago.Sorry no pics, phone stays well padded in the backpack...yes, no dust just my buddy and I and our sons, had a great time, attempting narly hills until you made it, bushwacking and lots of single track.

RE: Mecerdes Diesel

We sold our Thor Vegas 24.1 with plans to go larger for more extended trips. Looking for a diesel pusher in the 34 to 38 foot range. Specific requirements are walk around queen bed, larger shower and washer/dryer. We got $45,000 for our Vegas so that is the budget. Looked on line at a 2007 Alpha Founder with a 330 HP Mercedes diesel. The same model comes with a Cat diesel according to the NADA guide. Does anyone have any comments about the Mercedes diesel in a pusher configuration? Warren STAY away from Alpha....the coaches had many, many, many quality issues.

RE: Thor Outlaw hauling and towing togther

We are considering purchasing a 2017 Thor Outlaw 37BG and are looking for advice from anyone that has both loaded the garage and towed a vehicle at the same time. According to all weight limits posted on the unit, we would be within specs. But we worry about performance and handling. We will be loading a 1600 lb side by side, and pulling a 2010 Chevy Equinox (aprox 4100 lbs) The UVW is 20100. GVWR is 26000. Total capacity is 30000. Garage limit is 2500 Thanks in advance for any advice. Good luck with that. Towing a car behind a 5th wheel in Califrnia is a nono.Outlaw is a class A toyhauler.

RE: Class a toy haulers that can fit a smart car

Any reason why you want to buy an RV with so much space dedicated to a car when you could tow it and have the space for other things? Not trying to be Crass, just curious as to why you want the smart car actually in the RV instead of behind it. Also considerations to the GVWR would need to be looked at.smart car = not so smart

RE: Class-A Boondocking mods - but not those kind

I dry camp in the desert most of the time. You are not going to be able to get anywhere where those mods will do any good. You will get stuck,I know been stuck twice. The only mod on your list I see of any value is lighting, that always helps finding a spot at night.

RE: Drop down bed extension

If i remember correctly those are on shocks to hold the bed up while travelling. Might be a case of putting longer shocks on and rethinking the mounting points.

RE: Newbie ClassA questions - Stacker trailers

Look at the Super Cs, Dynamax, Renegade, Showhauler...will be hard pressed to find one 36" of under to meet your needs but around 40' you should be good. FYI, Your proposed stacker with a lift inside is going to be closer to 9=10K empty.

RE: Do you think a front cargo rack is too dangerous?

I've had a basket type one on my van for a while, but it has seen very, very little freeway speed driving. Mostly slow roads. An engineer friend saw it yesterday and said he thought it was extremely dangerous, because at freeway speed it could potentially set up a wobble, twist itself off, and end up underneath the front of the van. And, as he pointed out, that would be much worse than a rear rack coming off and dragging. Well, I found this image terrifying. But then I thought I should consult you all :-). (My rack plus contents ways maybe a hundred pounds, but one of the problems he pointed out is that the weight is necessarily evenly distributed. It's not possible to consolidate it in the center. This was why he was concerned about wobble at speed.)Just an engineer overthinking things and being overly cautious. My buddy has one on his class C to transport his firewood, another guy I know has one with his dirt bike on it. 250+ lbs

RE: Ford V10 Catalytic Converter

This place claims to have them. I also see them on ebay, don't know how good hey are. * This post was edited 11/03/19 09:23pm by T18skyguy * Thanks. These are universal fit ones that require welding. Have found a few of those. Looking to bolt on the existing piping. Why, so they can easily steal it again. Get one welded on. Installation doesn't matter. Either way it's only few seconds with a sawzall. Nobody is breaking bolts loose to steel a cat. I get that, they did steal mine by taking the bolts off though, had a new one welded on and been fine since...sawzall will need a lot of batteries to get them through the nights work and they are also a lot noisier and create a lot of sparks that are easy to see by LEO at night....just saying.

RE: Orange County Calif., Loses Another Large Storage Lot

I live about 2 miles from that lot, always wanted to store there but it was full and waiting list was long. I already pay $445/mo for a 65' pull through about 45 mins from my house, I am sure that will go up now as people scramble to find spots.

RE: About to GO Full Time

We almost bought a Grand Design 3 years ago and while we were looking I joined their owners forum and I'm still a member and frequent that forum occasionally. Owners were once in heaven there but it seems that now the honeymoon may be over with people complaining like all the other brands. If I was looking right now I would take a good look at KZ. They've been around long enough to be past the honeymoon stage. JK If Winnebago did buy GD then the QC will be in the toilet as FR or THOR bought Winnebago I believe. Regardless we when we were shopping for our current 5er we looked at Winnebago and the quality was worse than most.Winnie is still a stand alone, though publicly traded company and i would put them way above Thor or FR. They just bought Newmar.
