RE: Anyone interested in 83 Pace Arrow Tear down and Rebuild?

Pay attention it’s his niece not his daughter. :) Oops! My bad.

RE: Anyone interested in 83 Pace Arrow Tear down and Rebuild?

When we first bought the motor home, I was dumber than a box of rocks, concerning all things "motor home" wise. Lol. I am not sure that has changed much. You are a master carpenter and the King of "fix it" but calling this a "rebuild" is far from what's happening here. Yes, there will still be the same number of tires on the ground and the same basic chassis, but nothing, and I am not kidding when I say nothing, about this rebuild will have anything what-so-ever to do with a rebuild of an 83 Pace Arrow. I am still addicted to this thread but only because it gets farther and farther from what us commoners know as a motorhome. I often show my wife the photo from the post that lists progress and she just shakes her head and asks if this person really has a wife! Shelves along the entire back wall but nowhere to put a cooktop or sink? Are these going to butt up against the shelves? Where's that fridge going again? Don't get me wrong, I have learned stuff about stuff I will never have any use for over the course of these last 1 million or so posts, but I still hang in there. I feel like I should know a lot more about the daughter that keeps stealing Dad's time away from the forum but I do know too much about PT Cruisers, stains and planers than most anyone should have to learn from somewhere like here. You really cannot take this thread seriously as the vehicle being built is not like anything anyone else would want to duplicate. Just look at the shelving setup! What? How does that kind of shelving on both sides of the cooking and prep areas allow for real life usage? Shelving on the wall behind the cook top? Behind the sink? (Hopefully he does have a plan for a sink). No roof penetrations? A/C hanging off the side of the coach? The window in the back that's not sentimental? Rounded here, flat there and some cosmetic thing to make it look "not so terribly bad"? It weird that this thread still fascinates me. What fascinates me is where it started and where it's headed. I don't believe that even fulltimer would have seen the course that this "rebuild" (again, not a rebuild has taken. He/she has kept this tread interesting and I love the new posts (unless they are about the PT Cruiser, the daughter, the lack of new information or the random LOL post). I know he/she believes that he/she "must" post everyday to keep himself/herself activately engaged but I don't see where any harm would be done my simply not posting anything on a day where there was nothing to post.

RE: Need new convection/microwave

Should be pretty easy. Most units simply hang from a back plate mounted to the wall and the unit is secured in place by bolts from above the unit. There should be a cabinet above the unit and the screws will go through the floor of that cabinet.

RE: Need new convection/microwave

Get a home unit. Our latest we picked up at Lowe's. You just have to ensure that the venting (assuming it just blows inside) is the same as your last or compatible with your setup.

RE: DirecTV dropping DNS

If DTV truly ended DNS service they would also be able to convert NY and LA to spot beam as doing the CONUS broadcast would no longer be necessary. This would add additional capacity to their existing satellites.

RE: Dish/Direct TV is going Bye Bye Millions soon to Disconnect

This will be very different than the current satellite internet offerings. Currently the Geo-Stationary satellites are used which are 22,500 miles above the Earth making the signal delay in the 1/2 second range for each round trip. There can be dozens of round trips to get one page to open. The new satellites will only be 250 miles above the Earth cutting the latency (delay) to a much more reasonable time. Due to the low altitude, they will have to go faster than the Earth rotation and in different directions so you have to have a chain of satellites that hand the signal off to each other as on rises above the horizon as the other falls below. It will be interesting to see what the net result is.

RE: Directv getting channel loss 771 but not really

The standard SWM LNB can only handle 8 tuners. Maybe he installed a SWM16 LNB.

RE: Anyone interested in 83 Pace Arrow Tear down and Rebuild?

A fairly practical "range hood" would be the installation of a microwave or convection/microwave oven exhausted to the outside. Just a hood is just taking up space while the oven can offer utility and function.

RE: trading up to a DP, wondering about fuel program

I have never tried to pull my 40' DP with a towed into a Sams's club gas station and I never plan to do so. I want easy, safe in and out as I travel the Country Nationwide. I don't have the luxury of knowing that my "home town" gas station has room for me. I never know where I am going to have to stop for fuel and this program has saved me hundreds of dollars. Nothing bad here!

RE: Size ristrictions at state/federal parks

Yes. The site length refers to the coach length but there will also be room for a tow car. Not all State parks will fit a 40' so be sure you know the length restrictions before you go. We have run into many which have 35-36' max length.

RE: OTA TV Antenna

Actually you can. It sounds like you have an Alfa with a really tall ceiling but you might have to buy a 3 step foldable ladder. There is no scenario where installing the right equipment is the wrong choice.

RE: New Cell Phone Choice

Even if it costs more than your budget, I would buy a 5G phone. You are going to have this phone for years to come and there's no reason to buy old technology and regret that option later. I have had a Samsung S9 for the last 2 years and in the next year or 2 will likely replace it. I'm OK with 4G now, but in a year or so the 5G coverage will be much more widespread and I will want to be able to take advantage of that. I believe it's the lasted Samsung S10 that has 5G and I highly recommend their products. We were able to buy 1 and get 1 free so the cost came out to be $350 per phone.

RE: OTA TV Antenna

It's a problem replacing one of the Winegard automatic antennas. I was able to find a refurb unit but Winegard is not selling any any longer. If that was a factory installed option you should contact the manufacturer to see if they have any replacements available. Winegard did provide the manufacturers with that product for awhile after they stopped selling to the public. If that does not work I would recommend having the manual Sensar IV antenna installed as a replacement. You are likely going to have to relocate the antenna when you have clear ceiling space to drill a hole through the roof and through your ceiling into the coach. However, you will be able to reuse the existing coax running from the roof into the RV by simply making an extension that you can run from the new antenna, across the roof and a barrel connector to put the 2 pieces together. Use some caulk drops every couple of feet to hold the coax firmly to the roof and it will last for years and years.

RE: Directv getting channel loss 771 but not really

All satellites have a bit of a wobble. I saw the message the other day, repointed the Trav'ler but still saw the message from time to time. Nothing has changed but the message is gone. It could well have been something related to the satellite or the upload between the ground and the satellite. Bad weather in Gaithersburg, MD (if they are still there) can degrade the overall signal.

RE: trading up to a DP, wondering about fuel program

Great program. The savings are in the $0.30-$0.50 per gallon at many major truck stops (does not include Pilot/Flying J). It takes auto drafts from your checking account. They need your SS # as they pay the bill upfront and need a way to collect from the deadbeats who pump gas and close the account.

RE: Anyone interested in 83 Pace Arrow Tear down and Rebuild?

That's been the case Nationwide for some time. No one can enforce it but that's what is expected. You may or may not have the virus but since you can "feel" perfectly fine, you may have the virus and pass it along to others. If you go out in public (despite the orders not to) you need to practice social distancing AND wear a face mask that cover your mouth and nose. It may not be you, but it may also be you! No one knows......including you! Glad to hear you were able to buy some glue, despite the stay at home orders, but do you really think that was a choice that was in the best interests of those around you? 1 person with Covid-19 will infect 5 others even if they are not showing any symptoms.

RE: Directv getting channel loss 771 but not really

Satellite AR is not 100% accurate and certainly not something that would indicate if your signal is blocked or not. It's just a general guide.

RE: Winegard dish cannot find gps signal

For those of you familiar with the Winegard Trav'ler but have never seen a message about GPS, this is only used in the Canadian Shaw version.
