RE: Help. Antenna/Cable switch

Not sure if you just skipped over my post, but if there is no 12V and you want 12V, just tap a nearby 12V power source and run it to that switch. Otherwise, you need to trace the existing 12V wire that used to provide 12V as far as possible and see if you can find a bad connection or a hint as to where the fuse might be. Have you tested all of your 12V fuses with a multi-meter?

RE: Cost of installation for antenna

Very few folks with in-motion antennas use them as much as they thought they would. Many end up not using them in motion at all at a year or so goes by. However, if you want to pay all that extra money you can plan on about $1400 for the antenna and $400 for installation from a private satellite TV installer. You can watch Camping World (if you don't mind Camping World) for installation specials as they will often do an install for less than $100 (as low as $39 or $49) if you can catch one of them. For about the same money you could have a Trav'ler! (Yes, it will fit).

RE: Help. Antenna/Cable switch

Above as in my post? There is not any kind of rocker switch associated with your OTA antenna. We just need more information about what you have, what you want and what you are trying to accomplish.

RE: Anyone interested in 83 Pace Arrow Tear down and Rebuild?

At least even he understands that having roof vents and roof A/C units are reasonable and practical. He just modified the hole in a very logical way. Very well done as well, I might mention.

RE: Help. Antenna/Cable switch

If you can't find the original power source just tap any working 12V wires in the area and run the wire to your power supply.

RE: Auto Seek Dish

That very well may change come 2020. DirecTV will be broadcasting all programming in HD. That means that any programming coming from the 101 satellite will be in HD. However, it is expected that not all of the DTV programming will be available (logically, it could not be!) with a dome. For the full DTV programming in HD you will need one of the antennas mentioned above (expensive, but worth it!). This can also be done for cheap if you want to point the antenna yourself. A full sized home antenna mounted on a tripod will get you the exact same service. If you move frequently, the auto dishes are the only way to go. If you go somewhere and stay for multiple days or weeks then the tripod setups will save you a lot of money and only take a few minutes to setup.

RE: RV Router

I have the same unlimited AT&T internet service for $24 with taxes. Great service and I don't use any external antennas, just a Netgear MiFi router. There have been a few places I think an antenna would have helped but they were just stop-overs so really not of any consequence. Are you greatgrandfathered? Tell us more. Tablet simm? I bought a Mobley awhile back and put the SIM in the Netgear router. I only mentioned the service to reinforce the fact that the AT&T service is great with excellent coverage. The still offer the connected car service with a somewhat different device but it appears to have some additional restrictions @$30/month. I have not looked into that recently.

RE: Not A Joke Top Off With Gasoline or Diesel

Where? Still falling here in NJ! CA doesn't count! They will use any excuse to raise gas prices and not use a penny of it to repair their roads! Not only that, but how in the World is this a Tech Issues topic!?

RE: Not A Joke Top Off With Gasoline or Diesel

The USA is the LARGEST producer of oil IN THE WORLD. Let that sink in for a minute and then re-read what Mex posted. We are still in NJ and I am going to have to put gas in my car tomorrow for the first time in 2 weeks. It's going to cost me an extra 4 cents per gallon! Come on folks, almost immediately after the attack they reported that they would be able to get 50% of the supply back on line in a couple of days. Today they are pumping what they were pumping before the attack. In any case, it was never a threat to the US oil supply but Mex did get it right that speculators went off the deep end......for about a minute!

RE: Winterizing

As mentioned, no, pipe insulation will not keep pipes with water in them from freezing and bursting. Heat tape is likely the best option and will have to be on every pipe above ground with water inside. Find out what they did last year when all the pipes burst and start there as a guide on what not to do. If you are putting a small heater in a space to keep pipes above freezing it will have to be a sealed space with no chance of cold outside air getting in. It is can, it will nullify and heat you were hoping to use and the pipes will freeze and burst. The plan to blow out unused pipes and putting RV antifreeze in all P Traps will be successful as long as you get all the water out (most all) and ensure you find all P Traps including washer drains, etc.

RE: .Options for Highspeed Internet Anywhere (Data Intensive)

50 Mb down & 10Mb up? & 10Gb per day? 25 Mbs down & 3 Mbps up 10 Gb/day = ~300 Gb/month = yep (Business 300 plan) Unless you want to use the service during business hours. That's limited to 50GB/month with the other 250GB allowed anytime outside those hours.

RE: Directv

Can you use HR54 receiver from home in a FW when you travel? Yes, BUT...... You just use the correct antenna or install hardware called SWM8 and a different Power Inserter (PI2) if you want to adapt a dome or other non-SWM antenna.

RE: Not A Joke Top Off With Gasoline or Diesel

Here in NJ the gas "spiked" $0.10 and has already started to fall. I guess Armageddon arrive just as crazy Mex expected!

RE: Direct TV upgrade to Genie 2 knocks RV'rs out

If you have a Trav'ler antenna (or a tripod based home antenna) that worked with your old Genie it should work with the Genie 2. As mentioned, the problem is that the Genie 2 is NOT a receiver so it does not connect to ANY TV at home or in the RV. You use the wireless server built into the Genie 2. I don't believe there is a hardwire option for the mini's. You might want to watch this video from Solid Signal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTH_4uHxCG0

Can't we all just get along? At least quote the whole thing..... What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK. Can't we all just get along?

RE: full time 101 questions

You will save A LOT more money buy paying a higher interest rate for a lower priced RV (used 5th wheel) or Tiny Home than buying a new RV at a low interest rate.
