RE: fridge level?

I'd do a bit of leveling. X2. As mentioned above, a couple of boards should get you less than 2 degrees which is recommended.

RE: Portable Satellite Cable Storage..ideas??

If you go into most any store that sells coax you will find that they are bundled in about the size you are wanting to use. No problem! Sure that's right but I would believe once the cable is sold to someone for installation it's installed permanently and not rolled up after every weekend. Kinks and bends should be avoided, that's what learned from an electronics acquaintance. Rolling up the coax is very different than kinking or bending. Rolling up the coax will not cause any issues.

RE: Oil change

An oil change every couple of years goes against "my" grain but if removing the drain plug does not allow a clear drop to an oil pan or similar then the Fumoto plug is awesome. My generator has that problem and it was solved with the Fumoto.

RE: when to use "econo mode" on Allison 5 speed tranny?

Pretty much.....never. The difference is negligible and not worth the effort of even thinking about it.

RE: best non interstate route from Cottonwood to Albuquerque

There appears to be one logical path. 260 to Camp Verde, Payson and Show Low. The 60 all the way to I-25 for a short trip into Albuquerque. If you are so inclined you will want to stop and visit the Large Array Telescope research center just West of Soccoro. I have been on 60 from Show Low to I-25 but cannot speak of the road between Cottonwood and Show Low. Pie Town has an RV park and a State park in Datil listed on RV Parky but I have not camped along this route.

RE: Dome Satellite is it capable of getting service??

I completely agree that a roof mounted dome (even a removable one) is great, but the roof is a very dangerous place. Having to go up and down frequently can be risky. If you "must" go dome the Pathway X2 is still the best DISH dome available. Unfortunately (or fortunately) the X2 is not roof mountable. The dome is larger and it can handle both the Eastern and Western sets of DISH satellites. To the OP, remember that the thing in orbit that cost a billion dollars is a satellite. The thing on the ground (under the dome or not) that costs $400 is called the antenna.

RE: New laptop?

Tax Act might be good but I have filed with Credit Karma the last couple of years. It's quick, accurate and free! As to the actual laptop, the cheapies are likely Chromebooks which are great for accessing online content but not so good for software you might like to reside on your computer. I looked around for a few months and found a great deal on a Windows laptop at Office Depot (or Max) with touch screen (required) and a large SSD for the best speed. Using that today and it was less than $500.

RE: Dome Satellite is it capable of getting service??

One receiver, HDMI splitter and wireless HDMI to the BR, both TVs watch the same show and make sure you have a RF remote. If I have 2 receivers can each TV watch a different channel with one dish? We take grandkids a lot and in the evening when they watch kid shows I go to the bedroom and watch my own shows so I really don't want both TV's watching the same channel. I am still up in the air about hard mounting the dish or leaving it portable. I will run new coax cable to both TV's. Yes and/or no. If you are using a dome and DISH, the programming comes from 3 different satellites. As long as you are both watching programs that come from the same satellite then you can watch 2 different channels on 2 different TV's. If you are using a dome with DirecTV then you can watch 2 different channels on 2 different TV's but all in SD. Most importantly, if DTV drops all SD programming as they have been promising for almost 2 years, you will get HD from your dome but you will only get a limited number of channels.

RE: Dome Satellite is it capable of getting service??

Again, the dome "should" work with DirecTV but the issue is no HD programming and will not work without the SWM8 hardware if the OP plans to use the equipment DTV installs in his homw. I am not sure that the Tracvision dome is even capable of using the SWM8 kit. The dome "should NOT" work with DISH and WILL NOT work with the Hopper/Joey combination that would be installed in his home. A new portable like the Pathway X2 and a separate Wally receiver for the house or left in the RV would work but require some coax cabling updates.

RE: Dome Satellite is it capable of getting service??

You will not get a signal parked under a tree but it you are on a budget than mounting a home style antenna on a tripod is a great choice. You get the exact same home service as a much lower price and you can run a long coax cable to located the antenna in a clear spot while the RV remains under the trees. It takes a bit of time to learn to manually point the antenna at each new location but 3-5 times setting it all up will make it very understandable. There are a number of apps available for your phone that can give you the correct direction to point the antenna and the correct elevation, azimuth and skew required for proper reception. Plan on spending $200+ for a really good antenna/tripod setup.

That's the first I've heard of such a setup! Sorry I was less than helpful!

RE: Dome Satellite is it capable of getting service??

Personally, I would not bother with it. Even if it does work, it will only work with DirecTV and you will not be able to receive ANY programming in HD via the dome. The antenna is too old to work with DISH. If you are replacing your equipment at home, personally, I would buy a Winegard Trav'ler (I prefer DirecTV for service but both services are very good). If you buy a Trav'ler for DTV and change your mind in the future you can swap it over to work with DISH. However, if you buy the DISH version there is no conversion option to go to DirecTV. No, you can't use it while driving down the road but when you are parked and push the button to let it lock onto the satellites you will get the EXACT same service that you would get if you were sitting at home (other than Network programming, the one possible DISH advantage). Just move your receiver from the house to the RV and take off!

RE: Coachmen Santara Capacities

You should not have a gas tank for your generator if this is a diesel coach. The generator is likely diesel as well (hopefully) and draws front the main diesel tank. If not, the generator is likely going to be propane.

RE: 4 X12 = 6 X 8?

We have a 48 volt golf cart which sees very light use. Maybe two miles per week. The six 8 volt batteries are getting tired. I already have two group 27 12 volt Deep Cycle batteries and am asking if the charger and any other electronics would recognize and utilize the 48 volts provided by the four 12's. I already know some will say, "Get 6-8's" or maybe "8-6's". I am hoping that the 4 12's would power the cart for a couple of miles a week with charging readily available. $300 vs $800 makes me want to try it. Quick, short answer is yes! Your 48V charger will work just as well with 4-12V as it does with 6-8V. Other issues with amp matching and age matching may cause you issues but 48V is 48V no matter how you put it together.

RE: I needed to add an extra browser

Firefox is BY FAR my go to browser. Great product. Hate Edge! IE and Chrome are my #2 browsers.

RE: What am I doing wrong ?

When you move the Wally from the home style antenna to a dome you MUST complete a successful Check Switch routine before you can receive all programming. You also need a clear view of the sky (fairly large as the satellites are spread across 20 degrees of sky). Depending upon where you are located you might be setup for Eastern Arc satellites at home and the dome set for Western Arc. You will need to start by checking these possibilities.

RE: Replacing Blinds with Curtains for Warmth & Looks

Sorry that I am not answering the question, but I replaced the Day/Night shades with cellular blinds. Total blackout ones for the bedroom for a great nights sleep. The others are not see through but let plenty of light in when closed. You mentioned warmth and they do an excellent job of keeping the warm in as well as keeping the heat out. That's been important since we have been in Las Vegas for the last 45 days or so. 115 degrees is BAD!

RE: Times Up, Told You So, DirecTV is Dead

As usual some posters here can't get the facts right (OK, maybe only one whose name I will not acknowledge). I never left the thread, I left responding to one particular participant behind.
