RE: Use Verizon IPhone hotspot with Dish Hopper for On Demand?

If the iPhone is also on Verizon then the hotspot would likely not make much in the way of improvement.

RE: black tank chemicals

Test the water only theory in a porti-potty, or better yet try to run a potable toilet business without the blue stuff. This post is nonsense. Ever seen a flush porti-potty? Of course not!

RE: DirecTV dropping DNS

Love having DirecTV and DNS. I have not had to call/write or chat with anyone from DTV in YEARS! No changes needed. With the Trav'ler and a Genie/client setup I rarely watch live TV so when it comes on or where it's broadcast from has no meaning to me. I watch local news and national news using OTA from 5 until 6 or so and then it's back to whatever we have recorded. We also have a Firestick (2 actually) and can stream something available from a number of platforms as I luckily have a truly unlimited data plan no longer available. Even so, 90% of our TV watching is via satellite. I'm right there with you Bill. Actually my system is just like yours, but I have a Slimline dish on a tripod. Both setup work equally well. I'm just lazy and willing to pay for the convenience!

RE: RV ANTENNAS.... AGAIN

The Winegard has been doing well for 15 years but...hand cranking it up and down and then experimenting to find the msot or best signals is old.One of the winegard that is omnidirectional and enclosed in a housing and is cited for more range is nearly $400.00 sound fine except for the price. We are in Kingman and getting Phoenix etc right now but I want a self steering no cranking up or down model. Anything less than $400.00???? Keep (or replace) you existing Batwing. If you don't have the Wineman, add it to your existing setup or your replacement Batwing will already have it. Now, ADD the Winegard Sensar Pro. It takes the guess work out of pointing the antenna and adds a booster. Best choice out there, still.

RE: black tank chemicals

No matter Happy Campers content, it really works! I don't plan to use the product for anything I plan to contact so its content doesn't really concern me. With that said, I am still a big fan of WATER and WATER alone. I sometimes use Happy Camper in the grey tank when I get some odors from an unknown source but only use it in the black if I am going to be dry camping for weeks at a time without dump facilities available.

RE: DirecTV dropping DNS

YEAH! ABC is back for me! Still no CW but I don't believe I have ever watched anything on CW. It was still broadcast in SD and I just can't stand that picture. I also have no idea what shows are on other than older re-runs.

RE: New Ownership

We travel for business so we try to make about 350 miles per day at 70 MPH. However, we had some issues with our coach recently and to get where we were going we could not exceed 60 MPH for very long without causing issues. We had to get there and doing 60 got us there. Here's the point......Driving 60 MPH was super relaxing and we actually enjoyed it. We enjoyed it so much that we did nearly 500 miles one day just to get ourselves back on schedule to keep our boss happy. I now really understand the concept of taking your time and smelling the roses. We may never do 70 again when the 60-65 MPH range was so easy. The only thing I didn't like was the number of times I flashed my headlights to let the 18 wheeler passing us that it was OK to change lanes....Whew!

RE: Why remove dinette booth and replace with table and chairs

It's really an "each to their own" situation. I like the extra walking space provided but I went extreme and removed that an installed a bar with 2 chairs that runs along the wall. I added about a foot of extra walking room and it very comfortable and we have a great view out the window! If you like what you have, don't let anyone else convince you that changing it is the right thing to do.

RE: BEST RV CLUBS AND GROUPS TO JOIN WHEN RETIRING

Things are likely to be very different in 5 years. Post again in about 4 1/2 years for any information that might be useful.

RE: RV kitchen sink

You speak of a valve and not a P-trap. If you don't have a P-trap you would have a duck bill sort of valve and using any of the devices you describe could cause the valve "bill" to fold up over itself and prevent water from flowing.

RE: Anyone interested in 83 Pace Arrow Tear down and Rebuild?

Question, questions! If you follow this thread you know that what happens tomorrow depends upon his mood that day. The answers are unknowable as he does not have a full plan, just a plan that evolves day to day. To those that think I am a hater, that's not at all the truth or I would not follow this thread everyday. I just like to throw my own opinions into the thread from time to time. If I was a hater, I would post what my wife says every time I show her the various posts considered to be progress! She's not a wall paper fan!

RE: Use Verizon IPhone hotspot with Dish Hopper for On Demand?

There are still "grandfathered" plans out there. Most are 3G but they are out there. There are plans available that have unlimited data that allow streaming for the entire month. You may not get 100MB speeds, but most of us can get along just fine with 1-5 MB down for most of our needs.

RE: Pulling more than 50 amps ?

If you look at a 50 amp breaker you will see that it is actually 2 breakers tied together so that if either side trips (exceeds the 50 amp load) both sides trip. Now it can trip if you are too close to 50 amps for too long but the theoretical load is 50 amps from each breaker. Another way to understand 30 amp vs. 50 amp service is to understand the total watts available. 30 amp service is 30 amp x 120V = 3600 watts. 50 amp service there are 2 separate 50 amp "legs" for a total of 100 amp. 100 amps x 120V = 12000 watts available.

RE: Use Verizon IPhone hotspot with Dish Hopper for On Demand?

No, nor in name only. There are still plans out there (not all at 4G) with unlimited data without the 25G wall. I still have a full 4G plan with the Mobley. This is about right for my average month and you can see there's still 5 days left in the month. No slowdowns. It's not super fast but I have never been too slow to stream. https://i.imgur.com/gbohu35l.jpg

RE: Anyone interested in 83 Pace Arrow Tear down and Rebuild?

I almost bought a Pacer as my first new car. OK, maybe not the prettiest, but it was actually an awesome riding car. Very comfortable due to the wide wheel base but it was probably like driving a greenhouse when you where in hot weather. I ended up buy an AMC Ambassador (which everyone hated as well) and loved it. I am not (and neither is the DW) a fan of the PT cruiser but my choice were so far outside the norm that I completely understand why someone makes the car choices that they do.

RE: Use Verizon IPhone hotspot with Dish Hopper for On Demand?

There are still unlimited plans out there. A few of us a lucky to have gotten into the AT&T Mobley plan. 4G UNLIMITED. $23/month. There are some other grandfathered plans that cost big bucks and some 3G unlimited plans that are fairly reasonable but of questionable legality? There are unlimited plans that will work for you. You just need to find what works for you and go with an appropriate plan.

RE: Cost to install apparatus for Flat-towing

The brake systems powered by the RV's air brakes are the best and most reliable. M&G is the best but they don't have equipment to fit all tow vehicles. Air Force 1 would be my 2nd choice. I have been towing with an M&G for 20 years without issue.
