RE: Do I need air bags?

Okay this is what I wanted to hear I will be going out in it next month I had bought the air lift bag with the jounce but I had them to refund my money until I take it out, I think that I can save that money for something else, more diesel fuel. Thank you.

RE: Do I need air bags?

I have been looking at getting air bag myself since I just bought my new 1 ton I haven't had a chance to take it out yet but I did hook it up to see how much it sag, what do you think and yes my legs are up off of the blocks. https://i.imgur.com/47EK7i4l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Lvz9yG4l.jpg My 5'er gvwr is 12700 lbs 20% of that is 2540 lbs Truck payload is 3800 lbs Okay I'm going to try it without air bag after my first run and see if I want them or not. The truck do look level so will I benefit on getting bags still?

RE: Hitch choice

Let me re-phrase my question as I am not asking about the pros and cons of a pull test. I've heard the arguments for the proceedure, and they are all worthwhile. I'm assuming one can see the jaws are wrapped around the pin correctly, the handle is closed correctly, and the locking pin is in the pull handle. Based on this, couldn't you "visually" tell if you are high hitched or not? If NOT, is there any way you could drop the trailer on the bed, unless the hitch had a defect? I know that I have always lower the kingpin before I get all the way in lower than the hitch and as I'm backing in the kingpin ride up on the pad of the hitch and seat itself into the locking claw. I have never drop it in I don't know that way only what I have been told by the dealer. ( I know I'm in trouble now) listening to the dealer and we know where that will get you.

RE: Rails vs pucks vs gooseneck mount

I did the same as you GBuilder, on my new ram I have the puck system and order the base B&W Companion hitch now I just need to sell my base of my B&W Slider. I can't comment on how it tow because I haven't tow with it yet but I did hook it up and it felt solid.

RE: Ram 2500 Diesel

I had a 2017 2500 CTD towing my Jayco 321RSTS it tow it with no problem with the coil spring but of course I had air bags. My truck in WA is register for 12,000 lbs but of course my state let you do that, now I'm towing with a 1 tons but I haven't tow with it yet until next month. https://i.imgur.com/7LOldNEl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/7LHiyo6l.jpg

RE: Towing speed

I try to keep my speed around 65 mph my tires allow me to go 80 mph but I know I wouldn't do that but for the most part I try to get in the slow lane or the two left hand lane and do the speed.

RE: Miles per day.

The first day we do about 500 to 600 miles but after that we try to keep it around 300 to 400 miles.

RE: Hitch choice

Well, we settled on a B&W Patriot 16,000 non-slider. Good price, good reviews. Having never used a 5th wheel hitch before, I have no idea how good it is, but it seems to have a good reputation. I'll be pulling a 5th wheel with GVWR under 10,500lbs. Thanks. Congrats on your new Patriot!! IMO, from actual use, the best rail hitch available for the dollars spent. You will be very happy with that hitch!! Jerry Congrats! It's a good hitch for sure this is the one I have. https://i.imgur.com/rl4dJu3l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/2Qj5ysml.jpg https://i.imgur.com/gyjAYWPl.jpg

Thank you for your comment I have another truck now so let me see if I can post it with my new truck 2018 3500 Ram and yes the legs are up but just barely. https://i.imgur.com/DM2OE2Vl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/iZighGWl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/dN7e2H7l.jpg

RE: 5th Wheel Hitch Adapter for Puck Systems

Yep, I bought a B&W puck hitch for my new ram it's not the slider for my SB but you can turn the pivot leg in reverse and get another 2' to 3' out of it but I'm still using my head. The puck for my truck was $697.00 I have it now but just haven't put it together.

RE: I finally got my 3500

Thank you guys for all of your comments, well today was pick up and I started putting my stuff that I had in my 2017 2500 into my new 3500, but you know I'm loving it because my payload is 3800 lbs. https://i.imgur.com/IU4XM6sl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/RP4ilp0l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/L8tKpxrl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/LqLVqU6l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/KP8BY18l.jpg

RE: I finally got my 3500

Thank you guys for your comments and yes it is a 68RFE I couldn't find one for 2018 which is what I wanted, I can easily transfer all of my stuff over from my 2017 to my new 2018. It only had 19 miles on it so I am happy that I was able to find one, I wanted more payload than my 2017. Yes after I get it hook up to my fiver I will post up some pics and when I go get it out next week. I will be keeping this truck for a long time, this time, now if I can only convince my wife.

RE: Pulling with a Ram 2500

I had that same truck and gears and I was towing a 12,000 lbs fiver with it, you will have no problem towing that weight and with the payload of about 3000 it will tow that like it's not even back there. Like someone said it need the high rpm to make power but that's what they do.

I finally got my 3500

I have been wanting a 3500 for a long time so I find a leftover 2018 slt with 19 miles on it, it also have a factory gooseneck prep package, it's a 2018 3500 Dodge Ram SLT with backup and bed camera. I don't have it yet because I told them that I need to take some stuff off of my 2017 2500 but I should have it by Tuesday. https://i.imgur.com/YW8BIyUl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/lonj4Ndl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/0jGarE0l.jpg
