RE: About painting a 5th wheel

Lets see::::: Typical auto: 300 square feet. Custom paint $1200 to $1800. Typical 30' fiver: 800 to 1000 square feet (not including the roof which you would probably want recoated to go with the new paint). $4000 to $6000 ???? (plus roof)

RE: Rodent???

I order peppermint oil by the pint from Amazon Much cheaper than local suppliers who consider it aroma therapy.

RE: Advice on handheld electric drill for jacks

The cheapest cordless impact driver on the Harbor Freight wall.. Use it for two years and put it in the donations box. Get a new one. Three $33 drivers from HF equal one $99 DeWalt and you get a new battery every other year. A

RE: electrical question

After fifteen years of seeing what inept people can do to campground power systems, I will not plug my unit in without a Progressive Industries EMS between me and the box.

RE: Experience towing w/ 2WD F250, 2500 or other 3/4 ton

My 2500 RAM quad cab, short bed, diesel was great when I had an 11,250 pound fiver. When I moved up to my current 13,500# Titanium I ran across CAT scales and found that I made all limits but didn't "feel" real comfortable. I moved up to a (used) Chevy 3500 crew cab, long bed, diesel and will never go back. The difference in the ride quality between the short and long bed wheelbases is amazing if you have never experienced it. The drawback is that I now have the longest consumer pickup GM makes and some things like parking and u-turns can be a problem. (it has it's own ZIP Code.)

RE: Yellowstone - Spring or Fall?

Another vote for Fall. (Although it was snowing in the high country last night.)

Snow

It looks like there was a dusting of snow last night at Yellowstone, in the high country above about 9,000 feet.

RE: Terrible Trucks

Buy used. You will be amazed at how many people buy a nice, big, truck and then find out how "BIG" it really is in traffic and parking lots; turn around and sell it. For instance, look at what is listed at Gibson Truck World. A

RE: Keeping fridge cool in high 90s temps

I got a rectangular "shade sail" at Harbor Freight and rigged one edge to attach to the top edge of the slide and pull the opposite edge out at an angle to attach to tent pegs. The shade on the side of the trailer helps the fridge a lot. I also try whenever possible to set up so the kitchen side is facing East or North; away from the afternoon sun.

RE: Level on sloped campsites. How? Unique to 5er's

My main section (on Atwood jacks) will extend at least twice that far. How did you determine that that is maximum extension?? I have had one of my jacks out of the trailer and torn down to replace the thrust bearing and the lead screw was almost 30 inches long, which means that I have about 28 inches of travel.

RE: Those with 50 amp 5er's

Wouldn't be without an extra 25' You will not need it often, but when you do, it is too late to run to 7-11 and pick one up. I also have an old, beat up 30A by 30 foot that lives in the bottom of the tool box on the truck with various dog bones.

RE: RV toilet paper

I have a septic tank at home. We use whatever brand of toilet paper is on sale at Publix. After 47 years and two kids in the same house my tank has had to be pumped twice for accumulated solids. I do not have a garbage disposer in my sinks and we do not discharge the clothes washer into the tank (grey water dry well). Again! Toilet paper is NOT a problem.

RE: When replacing tow vehicle, do you.....

Never heard of illegal; but then "dealers is dealers!". I bought my current truck used and it had rails in it, so I left the rails in the old one when I passed it to my son. He uses a Reese goose-neck adapter on the rails to pull his construction dump trailers.

RE: RV toilet paper

You do not have a septic system that processes waste! The RV has a HOLDING tank. Toilet paper brand and type is of absolutely NO importance and has NO impact on how a holding tank works or doesn't work. Plenty of water and frequent emptying and flushing with plenty of clean water ARE important. Yes, my degree IS in Civil and Sanitary Engineering. A long time ago, maybe, but poop is still poop. A

RE: rv registration

I would think (based on Florida experience) GA. I would call or e-mail the State Vehicle Registration office and ask them. They live there, I don't.
