RE: Verizon or T-Mobile

I've had T mobile for quite some time on their " Magenta Plus " deal which benefits me on my recent change to T mobile Home Internet at 30 or 35.00 a month instead of the 50 bucks a month.
We do maintain a "visible " phone on the Verizon Network (25.00) as a redundancy for times when our T mobile has no signal. We use one or the other as our Not Spot. I have an AT&T SIM card for the do-hickey come on the roof but only load it when necessary.
So in a word....Happy with T mobile!??as
PS
A quick word on my switch to T mobile Home Internet. Prior, we had a bundle with Frontier communications for too long at roughly 170.-180.00 a month with a relatively slow fiber line(as fiber goes), home phone and basic TV( which I didn't need but it was cheaper to include it rather than getting the two options I wanted). Granted my current internet speed fluctuates somewhat depending on time, it still does the job. I also went with Ooma internet phone(so far so good).
Long story short......from 180.00 per month to 45.00 Per month.

RE: Multiple access points?

Your right about Starlink..I may have to look at that again......that would solve any connection issues without worrying about changing everything. Thank you for the replies....

Multiple access points?

Don't be to hard on me with this question!
So for Wi-Fi while RV'ing I use one of three separate Cell phones as hot Spots( that would be two T Mobile network phones and one Verizon network phone), I do have a Wilson directional Cell booster and finally I have one of those AT&T network Dome antenna's on the roof that also acts as a Wi-Fi booster.
If I recall correctly( haven't been on a RV adventure in a couple years) my Dome can act as an access point? Or is that what it is called where you can input all the passwords thus allowing the access point to choose the strongest signal between those that are entered?
In the past, I did everything manually, switching from one hot spot to another....I guess the reason I'm asking is if you have devices set to one password and that signal becomes unusable while another becomes available, can a separate device chose the from multiple access points with different passwords and spit out a universal Password allowing the devices to continue uninterrupted?
Hope I'm asking this correctly enough to understand.....

RE: Splendide dryer solution?

Either way, most units are installed in a closet space barely big enough for the machine. Because of the small loads, our vented unit gets its workout by doing multiple loads every day. I'm very familiar with the drier shut down. I've come to realize there is no permanent fix and each time it happens...it becomes a real pain having to pull the unit out and clear the lint.
I'm getting ready to do this again and thinking that a will cut the small door opening in the side, hinge it and make access a tad easier.

RE: Fence for Dog

Lots of different ways to handle the under stairs opening. I've used plastic lattice cut to fit, a piece of plywood that can slip between back of step and wedge between RV Body, I've used a piece of hardware fabric(think chicken wife but smaller openings and stiff)....this works fairly well because you can re shape/fold it depending on distance between ground and stairs! In a pinch you can use those plastic jack pads with a little ingenuity....lol.
One other quick note, some campgrounds limit the height of your doggie pen to 24" ....just for info.

RE: Using my phone hotspot for the tv.

Get on the "Visible" group rate for "unlimited" talk, data and hot spot. Granted its not really unlimited but I use it just as a back up when needed. My wife and my T-mobile phones on the geezer plan give you quite a bit of data/hot spot.
Back to Visible.....my plan is 25.00 a month on Verizon network but I think they still offer AT&T network, if that works better for you. I still do have Sat but streaming is nice to have when you want it/need it.
The Visible unlimited talk, text, and data is in fact unlimited. It is a prioritized service that can slow down on highly congested towers, but that only lasts as long as the congestion lasts.
Visible is wholly owned by Verizon and only works on Verizon towers. They do not offer any service on AT&T towers. Tracfone, also owned by Verizon, does offer phones on AT&T's and T-Mobile's towers, as well as there own, but no unlimited data service.
Thank you for setting the record straight on what "Visible" offers. I got in on the deal a few years back and the basic use of our Visible phone is as a back up to our T mobile phones during our RV'ing trip both for connectivity and streaming.

RE: Check your AC mounting bolts

I like that idea of springs! On my next retrofit with new gaskets I'll give that a try.
On the subject of air conditioners, has anyone here done the "hack" of placing insulation within the air conditioner separating return air and distributed air from inter-mixing? Just watched it on U tube and it looks like it works well in getting more cold air into the duct work. ( the video shows something of a pyramid shape of hard form insulation helping to direct air). Just curious of any real world results?

RE: RV retail sales drop 31% April year over year.

I suppose my hesitation in regards to this Fuel crisis is for the first time, I don't see relief in sight. While I may have the ability to pay the higher prices, we're retired on a fixed income and paying consistently higher fuel prices is not in the long term plan. I fear these new prices may be the long term prices.
Certainly these new prices will have consequences in the RV industry and beyond and while I may not be ready to pull the RV plug(pun intented), our RV'ing will be curtailed for now!:-(

RE: RV retail sales drop 31% April year over year.

I was just thinking about all this yesterday and with politics aside!
My diesel motor home has sat in my driveway for months now. We could afford it but I refuse to pay the close to 7 bucks a gallon here in Calif. Add to that the direction we seem to be going...buy electric, buy electric, you get the picture. Maybe I'm way behind on developments in the trucking/RV industry as to electric vehicles in that arena....but where is the outcry from these manufacturers? I don't see a battery powered HDT or motor home in the near future.
I was trying to picture RV'ing with no fossil fuel....load the electric car with tent and cruise quietly to the local campground? I'm not really complaining, I'm old enough to figure it's going to be a New generation issue but an issue that is and will be here before we know it.

RE: What's up with CGs?

I can easily agree to comply with the many rules and regulations posted by this campground but the way in which it is presented could be worked on a bit. I'm all for knowing up front what is expected of me noting most are just common sense items yet the arbitrator of these rules would need to enforce them uniformly....I hope!
While it doesn't happen often, I'm sure a few of us RV'ers have come across the campground employee who let's a little authority to go their heads.....then it becomes a mostly forgettable excursion!

RE: Self Install vs. dealer/technician install

Without getting too involved, are you aware of what will be required to tow that vehicle 4 down? I'm only asking for this reason....I installed my Roadmaster tow system on my Chev HHR. The tow bar itself, fairly straight forward. For the lights, I used magnetic portable. The only other electrical I do is to pull one fuse.
If you having to deal with lube pumps or disconnecting a drive shaft, that's a whole new ball game. Just for info...good luck!

Hughes Auto-former/Surge guard

Well, after many years of having both in my arsenal, I'm finally getting around to installing my portable units inside the storage compartment. In all the years I've had the 50 amp autoformer, I can't say that I'd ever noticed it Hot but they do suggest to mount it in a ventilated compartment? I'm not worried about having to make a vent hole in the fiberglass but I'm looking for some real world experience as to whether it actually needs that or could I place a whisper can close by and keep it uncrowded in the area I put it?
I guess my only real concern making a vent hole is weather incursion into the storage area but I think most vent covers work well or I could get one of those shiny dryer vent covers.

RE: DC to AC help

Can't speak to the quality but Newpowa has a sale going on right now.....1200 watt inverter with remote- 159.00 and I think their 2000 watt with remote is 179.00 both Pure Sine wave. I don't think either have a transfer switch but seems like good prices. I was only checking it out due to a solar panel sale and I was looking for a stand alone inverter for my residential fridge.

RE: Boulder Creek RV Resort and Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest

I forgot about the Fair grounds in Bishop....that seems like it might fit your requirements and there big event ( Mule Days) is coming up this month so it should be easier to get in? Is the June Lake loop too far off your plans....I could have sworn there were a couple full book up parks out that way.
Just another option that has full and partial book ups....McGee Creek RV park....near by Mammoth?

RE: Where to Stay in Mammoth, CA?

Very little choice in Mammoth for full hook up site....off hand, in the town is Mammoth Mtn. RV Park....I've never stayed there. There are a few places over on the June Lake loop, the only one I've stayed at was Golden Pine, tight spots but pretty central.
I'm happy to get in anyplace up that way...which normally means Forest Service camps....have fun!

RE: Memphis to Branson

On Wow....did 25-26 shows in 30 days a few years ago! Only did one dinner show and that's the Stampede....afternoon and nite shows can fill as many days as you can handle.
The "Landing" where the Bass Pro is a lot of fun to wander about and enjoy Happy Hour, lunch or dinner.
Never did make it to Silver Dollar City but its certainly an option. I think the Train ride is still running also across the street from the Landing. Have Fun!!!
