RE: Main slide issue on one side

Check the thermal cutoff switches..if you have them. I'm guessing the motor has to work harder bringing it in.

RE: 12v? 24v? 36...48v????

but isn't the 150Vdc based on the open circuit voltage not the operating voltage to insure it won't damage the controller if there is an issue? Yes, I believe that's correct.. which I've never understood. If panels are connected and operating they are not in an open circuit situation. My 6 panels vary between 80v and around 110 in operation, depending on sunlight conditions.

You’re running a 48V system in your camper?Yes.

Sooner or later you will want to sell that RV. Who is going to want what you have done to it by changing the basic DC voltage system? It's not difficult to revert back to 12v. I'm not giving away all those expensive upgrades to the next guy.

RE: 12v? 24v? 36...48v????

I haven't seen a 30amp mppt that will take a 48v input,That would be unusual. Many controllers will take up to 150vdc input. It's the output at 48v that might be a little more difficult to find.

RE: Did I damage my house batteries?

You want to get your charging unit checked first before you even think of going AGM batteries as they usually take a different charge pattern,Are you thinking of Lithium? AGMs may vary, slightly, but not to have to change out charging systems. They're still an acid battery.

RE: Did I damage my house batteries?

you might want to consider AGM batteries next time. They cost more but generally last longer and do not require maintenance.Yeah, or lithium.

RE: 12v? 24v? 36...48v????

I don't see any benefit to adding components (that can possibly fail) to convert back to 12 volts when a 12 volt system is adequate for what the OP is trying to do.I don't know what the OP is trying to do. He's been a bit vague.

3 tons is correct.I don't know why one is correct and others 'incorrect.' If one wants a higher voltage system, who cares?

This is becoming laughable. Talking 2/0 and 4/0 cables. Lol. U think he’s using the batteries to start his diesel truck 20 ft away or what?I don't know why you're hurling insults. He's loading up on a lot of power. Have you never read the manuals for large inverters and see what cables they recommend?

RE: Electric and ICE forever together?

If DW or I were still working and needed a second vehicle for commuting to/from work, probably would have focused on either a plug in or full EV.I bought a Nissan Leaf from Carvana last summer. Charged it to 100% in October, left for the winter, and 4 months later it was still at 100%.
Like George C Scott said about his Cadillac in 'The Hustler', "I like that car."

RE: 12v? 24v? 36...48v????

The big advantage of 48V is you can use a much cheaper MPPT controller since they're basically priced on output amps and 48V is 4x lower amps for the same watts.Yep, another advantage. My motto is "Wire handles voltage a lot easier than amperage."

RE: Electric and ICE forever together?

the military complex was funneling huge amounts of money into stuff to replace tubes and new electronics as well as indirectly supporting the test equipment mfg through large purchases of test equipment. For all the flak the government takes, they do manage to do some pretty good things.

RE: Electric and ICE forever together?

MANY MANY things one takes for granted today started with massive gov't subsidies. The IC industry is an example, many of the IC's and process development was funded either directly or through military contracts, and we all benefit.I've understood the space program to be a driving force behind miniaturizing circuits, eventually leading to the computers we have today.
