RE: Backing that trailer into a tight campsite..

I always try and do the Swoop technique I think they call it when ever possible. This is the one you are thinking of, works well. Yes that is it!

RE: Rotten floor

Straight up if it's spongy it is trashed. You will have to pull back the flooring, remove and cut back to good wood, screw down new ply over the frame and then glue the floor back down. Trailers use chipboard for the floors which is even less durable than OSB. I do repairs with CDX. While the floor is open use a coat hanger to reach all the insulation in the frame bay to remove it. It will be soaked with water. Let the bay dry out for a day or two before putting new insulation in and then fixing the floor as above.

RE: Length of time diesel fuel stays good in tank

On job sites our will sit for months between phases in tanks that are freely vented. Our machines are all brand new with hundreds of sensors and whatnot and they have no problems with the fuel.

RE: How do you know how much you can TRULY pull?

Toyota says it can pull 5,000 pounds because it can. It might not be 5,000 pounds of 22' travel trailer though. Does your owners manual give a rating for the frontal area of a trailer?

Deer jumps between truck and trailer

Ran across this on another site. Not good

RE: Removing Atwood AC cover?

Love this AC, have the same one. Maybe the gasket? If the 4 big mounting bolts are loose they might just need a turn or two to compress the gasket more. I just swapped our Atwood onto our bigger trailer from our smaller one and the big bolts were not as tight as I thought they should be.

RE: Tire Balance

Never have balanced our trailers tires. Never have noticed any odd wear either. I guess if I didn't mount them myself I'd spring for the extra balancing fee. If your having a shop do it just have them balanced.

RE: Trailer Reverse Lights

Ok now I'm doing this! Thanks ?? Also yeah I think on a switch would be better than tied into reverse circuit.

RE: Time for air conditioner replacement

I absolutely love out Atwood Air Command. It is so much quieter than the Dometic we had before and much more electrically efficient. I hear they are owned by Dometic now but do not think they have changed the design in any way.

RE: The Long Trailer

Wonder if there are still any rocks hidden inside ??

RE: Airbag fill ports?

Mine is below the tailgate behind the bumper. Not super accessible but easy enough to get a air chuck or pressure gauge on.

RE: Airbags?

Mine are T'd together and Schrader valve is under the bumper. Run them at 15 psi when empty and 60 when towing. I inflate/deflate them at the same time I do the rear tires.

RE: TIres, looking for long wearing, all weather load range E

Another vote for Michelin.

RE: Steep Driveway

A friend of mine stops at a grocery store a half mile from his home and drops his hitch as low as it will go so he can back in to his drive. Does the reverse when leaving. Maybe you could chock the trailer and go with a lower hitch point. That's a idea. Have a drop hitch way too low for traveling but perfect for getting into your parking spot at home.

RE: 1141 Replacement bulb

I got two packs of these to replace all the 1141 bulbs in our new to us 30' toy hauler. Went a little crazy and changed every single light, inside and out including the spot lights but since I needed 20 interor lights I cheaped out a little, all the exterior lights I got from SuperBright. These have a nice warm color, not blue. Really they look almost the same as a incandescent. 1141 LED

RE: Onan Microlite 4000 Generator Issue

Same Gen in our 2005 Forest River. The start buttons need to be held down to Stop for 3-5 seconds to prime the fuel system. There is a indicator light that goes out when it's ready to start. Also oil level is critical on these generators. Check the oil level, it is low it will not run.

RE: New Truck 4x4 or 4x2 ??

If you have no use for it you have no use for it. By some chance if you ever get stuck somewhere you'll just have to wait for a tow. I've towed our toy hauler off road a few times and never needed a 4wd.

RE: Tow Vehicle for 10k bumper pull

Even my old 1st Gen Dodge is rated to pull 11,600 so I would hope any modern 3/4 ton could do it too and if I was only going to pull a few times a year would go with a 3/4 ton.

RE: Rewiring a landscape trailer

Hazard Fraught has a LED trailer lite kit that has front marker lights with it. Should have plenty of included wire for a 12' trailer.
