RE: Acess to back of outside tv

On our 2015 ACE the original TV went bad and had to replace it. The TV was bolted to a mounting bracket that has no tilt or swivel. Had to remove the bracket to remove the TV but not hard to do. The screws for the bracket were past the sides of the TV so easy to get to. The plug in was under the sink then went through the wall. Tied a heavy string to the cord just above the plug before pulling the cord out. Tied the string to the new cord and pulled it through. Jim.

RE: A punishing pace, safety issues and broken bodies

I just turned 76 and have worked in a good number of companies both union and non-union. My experiences have been in the manufacturing industry mostly as a machinist and later as a tool and die maker. I have seen unions that did worse to the workers than the company did. I have been a member of a couple good unions that did good for their members. There are companies I have worked for that the people really needed to form a union but did not. The last place I worked for 10 years was non-union and wanted to keep it that way so treated employees good and with respect. You cannot make a blanket statement about unions being good or bad, depends on the union and even the local. Jim.

RE: Testing 3 wire Dometic Thermostat

Just went through this and not too bad if yours is the same as mine in a 2015 Thor ACE. Go to your board and pull it out and unplug the six wire connector. Turn thermostat so the heat should be coming on, have your multi-meter set to check DCV. Place black test lead on black wire and the red lead on the blue and you should see 12 volts. If you have that it should be the board, look at the bottom with all the little solder joints. If any of these are discolored this shows a short and needs replaced. Any board I have found bad I have replaced with "Dinasour Electronics." I recommend them because they are a good product with great customer service but that is my only connection with the company. Give them a call and a technician will troubleshoot over the phone and if it is a bad board will recommend a replacement. If you do need a new board they do not sell direct so Amazon is your friend. Make sure you send in the warranty card, I just had the replacement board go bad and they said to just send it in they would look up the warranty. They replaced it even though it was caused by water damage with a note they only warranty once for water damage. To me that is a very good warranty and it is a three year warranty. Jim.

RE: Water Front Property

Keep close eye on wx forecast when camping by a river or creek. Think Yellowstone. 100 year floods are now common. Need to change their outdated risk assessment maps. Have fun The first camping trip my wife and I took was back in the mid 1990's where we drove down an old farm road along a small local river. Pitched our little tent on a nice sandbar had supper and the wife hit the bed. Absolutely beautiful day not too hot and no sign of rain. I was sitting in a lawn chair on the sandbar fishing and when I reached down to get some more bait the bait box was floating. Woke up wife and packed up and headed home with the sandbar sinking into the river. Got home and checked the weather and a thunderstorm miles upstream dumped a bunch of rain. Went out the next morning and you could tell the sandbar had been covered by at least several inches of water. Good thing I stayed up to fish or we probably would have woke up in a tent with water running through it. Jim.

RE: Water Front Property

We were lucky and found about three acres on a river in 2017. It was set up with electrical for a 30 amp camper of the former owner. That spring 2018 we had the biggest flood since 1994 and every inch of the property was under water. That summer I built wooden steps down the river bank to the lower beach, secured to a big tree with a cable. Every year it floods high enough to move the steps up onto the higher bank and I move them back in the spring. It is a bit of work but usually only once a year and the place is worth the trouble. Jim.

RE: Simple RVing recipes

An easy dish I have been making is pretty much a stir-fry. Three green, red or yellow bell peppers I usually use one of each and an onion cut into strips. Meat of choice beef, chicken or pork also cut into strips. Toss it on my Blackstone and season with ginger, salt and soy sauce. Serve it over rice and we have two easy meals. Jim.
