RE: Pick up for TC

You might not know it now, but, you really want a DUALLY if you’re getting a hard side TC... Do the math when you figure out which TC you’re gonna get - FULLY LOADED!

RE: Total novice camper weights question...

.... Before you figure out if your truck can handle a camper you need to figure out which camper you’re gonna get?..If you get a hard side camper and it has a slide you’re gonna be over; published weights are before ANY options or mandatory factory specs; batteries, propane, water AND your “stuff” is in place ( clothes, cook/eating, food, alcohol, tools, hoses, cords, hobbies, chairs, etc)... And when you figure out which TC you’re gonna get go to the FB page for that brand. For me it’s the Arctic Fox Truck Camper FB page....

RE: Recommendations for quiet portable generator

....... As a campground host I have seen people run their LOUD Chinese generators and then leave for many hours so that they didn’t have to listen to the noise; only campers had to listen to the noise.... As a side note China just leased Tulagi Island for 75 years ( USA had to fight Japan for this island during WW2 ) thereby increasing its hold on Asia ( Same approach as Japan in the 30’s but different method ( instead of fighting for domination they are BUYING it ))...

RE: Recommendations for quiet portable generator

..... if you buy a Honda or Yamaha you can find parts *IF* it ever breaks; not so with the Chinese brands ( do you really like to support China? )...Also Honda & Yamaha have Good Resale Value!!!

RE: Quiet generators

.....Honda generator parts are readily available IF, IF you ever need to repair a Honda.... Also Honda’s have a very good RESALE VALUE if you don’t need a generator ( maybe you went SOLAR or quit RVing? )....We have both but SELDOM run our Honda 2200 ( for microwave )....

RE: Generator pros and cons

.... I chose a Honda ( made in Thailand ) because I didn’t wanna give my $$$ to CHINA! ... in the deal I got RELIABILITY and when I sell I got RESALE VALUE..... China wants to rule the world; do you want that for your grandkids? I’ll support any country other than China & North Korea!

RE: Must cross Yosemite NP to Convict Lake?

Good morning...I’d call YNP and ask if it is required to pay the fee if you are Only Transiting the park and Not Stopping! I know that in Death Valley you don’t have to pay if Only Transiting!!!!!

RE: Asking for advice setting up truck for tc

Grit Dog.... Can we all agree that the manufacturer LIES on their weights? I think we can.... So when you add the factory REQUIREMENTS & your OPTIONS when you order the TC it becomes REALITY! And we don’t even have a television!!! Also if the poster is interested in an Arctic Fox there’s a FB page one can post their inquiries....Our Duramax rides like a Cadillac fully loaded; skateboard when empty.... Our 2nd Duramax...

RE: Asking for advice setting up truck for tc

..... We read several articles on several sites and basically AFTER your TC is fully loaded with batteries, propane, alcohol, clothing, food, entertainment stuff, coats, flashlights, cords & hoses, etc, etc, you’re gonna be over GVWR on a SRW Duramax on any Hard Side TC..... We are FULLTIME in the LIGHTEST Arctic Fox TC, an 865, on a 2019 Duramax Dually..... Fully loaded we’re 1400 over GVWR...So you might wanna go to a Dually unless you wind up with a pop up TC..... Talk to some folks driving a Dually and they will tell you that they wished they had gone that route FIRST... Yes you can do it with a SRW truck but you can enjoy the driving a whole lot more with a Dually....We do a lot of Western states mountains with ups & downs reason we got the diesel ( power going up & exhaust brake going down ).....If we lived on the Right Coast probably woudda gone with a gasser as not so mountainous..... Might not be what you wanna hear but it is what it is.....

RE: Radiator performance? Life expectancy?

I did not mention it but please forget the Dexcool ( Deathcool ) & go with your favorite Name Brand 5 year / 150,000 mile antifreeze ( full strength NOT premixed ).... When you get done changing all the parts & flushing out the motor before refilling REMEMBER THIS: You will probably have a couple of gallons of water / old coolant left sitting in the motor ( unless you have drain plugs on the engine block )....
